Okay,
so I went for my 20 week scan yesterday and I took along my birthing coach so she could feel a little attachment to the baby. She was my coach for both of my boys and I KNOW that she would NEVER tell me if she found out the gender. Since I am team green this time and I was SO paranoid about finding out anyway, I wore my "expecting a surprise" t-shirt. I told the tech how paranoid I was and that I wanted to skip the scan all together.
So I didn't look for the first 5 minutes or so and she said, "you know.. you can look. I'm just looking a the head, heart and arms right now"
I watched the little munchkin suck it's thumb (none of my other two did that) and I watched the tech fight with the baby to get it to move it's hands and arms out of the way of the face. Then after about 10-15 minutes, she says "okay, I'm gonna take measurements of the spine and legs, so you may want to turn away". So I did.
I then watched the tech, the student tech, and my birthing coach turning their heads to the side in synchronization and I giggled. The tech had to fight with the baby a bit more and this required lots of jiggling of the wand on my belly and some painful jabs to my bladder. After a bit of this she had me go empty as it was obvious I was in pain. So I left the three ladies to discuss their opinions of the baby's gender and I went to pee. I came back and they looked a bit longer at the baby and we did a bit more of the jabbing the belly with the wand and encouraging the baby to move just a bit. Then she went back to the face for some pictures and let me look. This required more jabbing and jiggling for a decent face shot and a few times it looked that the baby looked RIGHT at us saying "WHAT! LEAVE ME ALONE!" we all laughed when the baby did this. We got a picture of the baby sucking it's thumb and a couple of the profile of the head and belly.
The heart rate was 155 and the placenta IS anterior (probably why I feel like this baby is so gentle). Upon leaving the u/s room, my coach says that NONE of them know what the baby's gender is cause the tech didn't want to screw things up for me. So she didn't even look to see if she could tell. So, this means my doctor may not even know the gender.I'm happy about this cause there is now zero temptation for me to ask.
Here are my 9 pics that I got to take home. Sorry they're big. I know you all like to see the detail as much as I do.

What a sweet little face! Funny about him/her keeping the hands by the face- mine kept doing that too. Asserting a little independence already!
Glad all looks good.
Wow, GREAT pics of your little blessing, Janelle!!!!!

So glad everything went well...you have some serious willpower lady! I am impressed. There is no way I could have kept my head turned. DH would have to physically hold me down or something...lol
Do you think the pics look like either of your boys?
