25 wk appt

Everything was great! HB was in 140's. Had 4+ sugar in my urine thanks to my cereal this morning. Gained 8 lbs since my last appt so he had to let me know that was a little much. The sad part of the appt was that I'm measuring 34 by fundal height. I was a little depressed about that. Will do the GD test next time. Go back in 4 wks.

Sounds like an overall good appt! Question about fundal height: at this point in the pg, what does measuring ahead mean?

(Sorry for the silly question!)

I know that it isn't concerning for me to measure larger especially since it's my second pregnancy. I measured bigger towards the end with Coby also. But, I never got this far ahead until the end. Makes me concerned that I will be too large to function towards the end. He didn't say anything though other than I gained more than he would have liked me too.

Heck it could be anything from babies positioning to excess fluid. I have always measured ahead with all my babies, but usually only 2-3 wks, 9 wks seems to be alot to me (IMO) if I were measuring that large the next time I think I would start to ask alot of questions and maybe request another US!

At 38 wks with DS, I measure 45. I was pretty big. I did gain like 45 lbs and I know that plays a part in it. I'm going to try to start walking and drinking more water instead of cokes and see if that will help out a bit. I'll have to start with that tomorrow though because today is shot. LOL!

Yea 34 is quite far. This is my third and Im measuring one month ahead, and I just called my midwife today to schedule an appt with her and we will schedule another US to check on the anatomy and all since I am predisposed to genetic disorders. They say that a discrepency anymore than 3 weeks is worth further investigation...and if they are scheduling your next appointment one month away, then thats a normal time frame and they arent treating it as if it is a big deal...

My mdwife and doctor are worried about GD for me, but I havent been spilling any protein or sugar so its not the biggest worry. But since you have that much sugar in your urine, IMHO you should be pushing the issue with your doctor. Sometimes they dont listen til you slap em around a little bit:) My midwife doesn't want to do the GD drink test until 28 weeks on the dot because she swears that is the most accurate time to do it...but doc's I work for say (Im a nurse) anywhere between 24-28 is fine. But since the midwife says 28 weeks, fine so be it..

Anywhoooo, hope all is well with you and the baby. And if you do have a giant 13 lb baby, atleast you would know in advance:-) My poor aunt didnt have good prenatal care back in the 80s and she went the whole time not knowing she had GD, so yeaaa my cousin was born 13 lbs 8 oz vaginally!!!! Ouch!!

Thats kinda what I told my doc too, is that if my lil man is going to be huge, I would like to know in advance. I havent bought any newborn clothes cause my son Jacob didnt fit them and he was only just under 9 lbs. So everything is 3 month and 6 month already!

Sounds like a good appt. overall. Hopefully the measuring ahead isn't anything too concerning.
