Ladies, the newest love of my life, Miss Eleanor Riley made her debut yesterday evening at 5:39pm. (40w4d)
7lbs, 13oz of pure perfection
Abby and Ellie
Me with my two favorite girls (love this picture!)
Now for the gory details.
Yesterday morning I finally had a tiiiiny bit of pink when I wiped. Woot for bloody show! Knew it could still be a while, but it was certainly more promising than the last several weeks.
I had an appointment that afternoon. I got to the office around 3, and my BH were just a little more uncomfortable than they had been, but still irregular, and generally 8-10 minutes apart.
During my u/s, I was still having contractions, but still not terribly painful.
Then I did my pee-in-a-cup deal (hello, more bloody show) and weight (dropped another pound this week, so total net gain was +12) and sat in another room for the NST, where the nurse left me. For quite a while. And the contractions got big enough that I had to breathe through them a little bit. This is a little after 4pm. Doctor walks in, takes one look at the strip (and the contractions), and says she will check me in the closest available room.
While I change, she goes to see one more patient.
She checks me around 4:30, and says, "You do NOT mess around when you go into labor! You are at 6cm, 0 station, and your bag of water is bulging! If I break your water now, I will be catching a baby right here."
She calls over to L&D (her office is connected to the hospital) and tells them I'm on my way, says she has one last patient to see, and will be over soon.
I walk into L&D at 5pm, and contractions are about 2-3 minutes apart.
At 5:25 I get nauseous and start heaving, and on one good heave, my water breaks. All across the room. DH calls for the nurse, who pages the doctor, who drops what she's doing and comes over. (Smart doctor!)
Baby moves down very quickly, and with two pushes, she is out at 5:39pm. Apgars 8 & 9.
As soon as she got out, she pooped all over me. Thanks, kid. Good thing you're adorable.
She nursed for over an hour right away, and seems to have a good latch/suck.
Abby got to come by and see her little sister around 8:30, and she seems to like her. Gave her lots of little kisses, and took several turns carefully holding her.
Overall, a great birth experience, and we're thrilled with our newest addition!
Congratulations Emily. Ellie is beautiful and what a great birth story.
