Talking Babies R US trip LOL

So i went to Babies R US with my parents yesterday. they wanted to get me one big gift but wanted to wait until after my baby shower to see what i needed. I am still trying to find time to get picks of that on here. sorry, but SUPER busy! anyways, they decided to get me the glider for the nursery. so we went yesterday (stocked with 20% off coupons). i got my carseat (YAY) and i expected to get just a normal glider/ottoman set. well, neither of myparents like them. so in the end, they got me the most expensive one there. the one that looks like a normal comfy chair, THE ONE THAT I WANTED!! i couldnt believe it! ok, they got 20% off and another 10% for opening an account with them, so they spent ALOT less that the full price. the cheaper of the nicer ones had to be special ordered to the color i wanted and that would have taken 10 weeks. i dont have that kind of time LOL...so they got the more expensive one as it was in MY color. im so excited! anywho, while there we were browsing and my mom found this "test" that tests your breast milk for alcohol. SERIOUSLY??!! um, common sense tells ya that if you are drinking alcohol at all you should NOT be breastfeeding! OY!

Then we ending up making a last minute trip to pick up DD from my friends house (she's been gone for 2 weeks) and my friend gave me her crib mattres, 3 crib sheets and a butt load of clothing that she got for us at a yard sale. and DD, with her own money, bought Kendra a few of those night thingies that are open at the bottom. sorry, cant think of the name. She was so proud! the clothes were REALLY nice too!

So now all i need now are the baby monitors, a changing pad, a stroller (waiting to use my next coupon for that one LOL) and little odds and end stuff. DH finished the drywall this morning, SIL is coming in to spackle today as well, and hoping by the weekend we can paint! the carpet shold be in in another 2 weeks! OMG this is getting so real!! we are almost done ladies!

i know, i need to post pics! im waiting to get everything in place to post the pics. i have received so much and i cant wait to share it all! and i will try REALLY hard to get the shower pics up soon! it hard work making room for baby LOL and we are working round the clock. the plan is to be DONE and still have a good 4-5 weeks to just REST before Kendra is born!

Im sorry i havent been posting too much, but i have been keeping up on you all!

Sorry this is so long, the plan was so post the silliness about the alcohol test! OOPS!

I must admit I only skimmed your post. I will read it all in a bit.. but must wake up a little more first.

Just wanted to say, Don't dis the strips! I actually want to get some this time around. I'm not an alcoholic or anything, but do have certain "events" where there's an open bar and I would have liked to have had one or two drinks and still know when I could STOP pumping and dumping. BFing is a much better empty for me than using a pump and when Daniel was still nursing and I went to a company function and had a drink I was pumping and dumping for hours later, and I got severely engorged and my supply was down the next day. From what I'm told I could have safely nursed him by the time I had gotten home, but I didn't know for sure, so I didn't.

Okay, now to go have my cup of coffee for the day and then I'll read on all the GOOD things you found at BRU.

How exciting, it sounds like you're almost ready. My mom hinted this weekend that a few people might be chipping in to get us our travel system which is like $300. It would be awesome if that's the case because then the last big thing would be our pnp and we'd be all set. She only let that bit slip because I told her how impatient I was, especially with all the coupons BRU keeps sending me, and I was thinking about buying it ourselves.

It sounds like you got a GREAT steal on that chair!!

And yay for cutting your list down by so much! I'm sure that's a big weight off your shoulders. Little by little, you will be ready for the baby.

Congrats. I can't wait to see pics.

Wow sounds like a good trip! Glad in the end you got what you originally wanted, and some bonus things on the side like the mattress, clothing etc!

I did have to LOL and look at it funny when you mentioned the strips, never heard of them before, but I guess they're good for those who want to have a drink but not sure if they can BF after so much time has gone by. Makes sense but a bit weird lol.

Sounds like the reno's are well under way, can't wait to see pics of everything you have to show us!

LOL well now that you put it THAT way, maybe i sould get some too. my mom looks at things in the "you have a problem" sense of things. I just thought it was humorous and honestly, i didnt think of it that way, though i made a few comments recently about stopping BFing for a few days so that i can drink LOL my mom walked around that place in amazement with what all is out there now! we shoudl probably start a thread as to how long not to feed per drink LOL

Lenora, BRU coupons are weird. i have 2 that i could buy furniture strollers etc, , then i have one that is NOT for furniture, pumps, strollers, bedding, formula, diapers, etc etc. then i have another one that is JUST for strollers, carseats etc. after my stroller, i think im done withe the big stuff.

    Yay for shopping!

I think the only thing I really want to get is a double stroller.

I wand a Phil & Ted's, it's just not the best time to be making a big purchase like that.

Pretty much everything I have is gender neutral, and my little guy is only 10 months old - so I get to reuse!

Also, my rule of thumb was always half an hour after a drink was a pretty safe amount of time.

Yay for getting more baby things!!!
I agree, I've breastfed 3 babies now and there were definitely times I wondered. Breastmilk doesn't have as high a concentration of alcohol as your blood when you are drinking so you can still have a drink...but it'd be nice to know for sure, KWIM? I'll probably get them this time to. This year alone we have a lot of family and friends with 'big' birthdays and if we can find a sitter I have no issues with having a few drinks

Yay! I want to get one of those chairs this time too. I might see if I can get our glider re-upholstered. It would probably be less expensive to just buy the new chair.

How awesome is it that you only have a few more things to buy. I am jealous. So much to do...
