BTDT Moms (xp)

When did you phase out the morning nap? I can't for the life of me remember when I did it for DD1 and ofcourse I didn't write it in her memory book. I have noticed in the last couple of weeks, B has only been napping for 1 hr in the morning, where K will nap for 2 and in the afternoon its opposite. Should I keep them up in the morning and then have a good nap in the afternoon? It just seems too early to be eliminating a nap already (they are almost 7 months).

Any suggestions???

Joshua was 15 months when he started to drop am nap. Maya will sleep about an hour an a half in the am and about an hour and a half in the afternoon.

DD was close to a year when she dropped down to one nap. But she ended up dropping her afternoon nap and keeping the morning nap. Go figure.

I want to say Brandon was about 15 months or so when he dropped the morning nap. He still naps for 2-3 hours most days though which is nice because they go down at the same time so I will sometimes get a break or a nap myself. CJ needs to nap every few hours or he gets really grouchy. His morning nap is usually only 30 minutes or so but it keeps him from turning into a beast, lol.

Hailey didn't lose her morning nap until after her first birthday. She still naps from 1-2 hours now, unless we are out and about doing something fun. If she doesn't nap one day, the next day is almost guaranteed to be at least 2 hours.

Carter doesn't sleep much during the morning. Maybe 30min-1hr. He sleeps better in the afternoon. I just let him sleep when he wants to or needs to. I don't push a nap unless he is acting sleepy.

Shaylynn doesn't nap much in the mornings now, but she gets up between 9-10am. Then I usually feed her lunch (oatmeal) around 11:30 or so and then she will go down and nap for an hour or so until her next bottle. Then she will sleep at least 2-3 hours in afternoon, then another bottle, and she usually needs a 20 minute or so cat nap before her bedtime bottle, then goes to bed for the night around 10pm.

Mason was around a year or a little over when we went down to 1 afternoon nap a day. He still takes naps most days, but probably once a week or so, he skips it. I am so not ready for him to give up that nap!

Isaiah's been pushing his morning nap way back, about 10am, he naps pretty good, it was somewhere around 1 that my older son dropped it, my oldest kept two naps for quite a while but my second was napping on the same schedule as my oldest before she was one.

Selah still takes 3 or 4 naps a day, so I don't think it will be any time soon. With DD1, I transitioned her to 1 nap around 10 months because DH was deploying and I needed both of my kids to nap at the same time. I don't think DS transitioned to one nap until around 14 months or so, maybe? Selah just takes way more sleep than DD1 did.

I switched up their schedule, and they are now sleeping longer and more frequent. They are now having 3-4 whereas they were only having 2 before. Strange, but its helping with the night sleeping too. I think I was just so stuck on enforcing a schedule, I was making them stay up too long and they were getting over tried. So good So far!
