So this morning I went and noticed a much darker tinge to my urine. Should this be a concern to me given the whole low amniotic fluid thing? I know i should ask my mw these things but perhaps some moms who know may give me better advice. I will definitely bring it up to her when I see her again (next Tuesday)
Darker pee means you need to drink more. Occasionally mine gets quite dark too then I drink more water/juice etc, and it gets lighter. I have been lectured when I've gone to prenatal appts and give my urine sample that it's too dark and I need to drink more.
I know at this stage of pregnancy the last thing we want to do is drink drink drink, because we're always going pee lol, but we kinda got to. I was also told that means you're a slight bit dehydrated and we all know what dehydration can do to us!
Is this really possible? I've been drinking markedly more water since Thursday's diagnosis, at least 10 cups a day! I guess I'm going to have to amp it up even more? This is crazy, LOL. Poor me, I already wake up almost every hour to pee at night. Oh well, as long as our LO is happy.
I agree that it usually indicates a need for more water, although I would still talk to your doctor about it just in case it's something else. I would drink some Gatorade too- if you're dehydrated, you need to replace electrolytes- water alone won't do it.
Yeah, usually darker pee means you need to drink more but it can also be a sign of a UTI. If you're taking any kind of pills or supplements that can have an effect on your urine too.
I would just keep an eye on it and see if it goes away if you drink more fluids. Are you feeling ok otherwise?

I agree with the Gatorade too, especially if it's really hot where you are, and it's tastier than water LOL. Try drinking a bit more water and see, and if nothing changes then call just in case it really is something other than needing to drink more. I'm sure if you're feeling fine otherwise it's probably nothing, but with pregnancy you can never tell. KUP
I take my prenatal vitamin at night and my pee is pretty dark in the morning (I normally get up around 3 or 4 to pee)... so, if you recently took some vitamins or supplements that could be the cause... or what the other ladies said as well. Drink more water... and if it continues you could always call your dr.
I'm feeling ok otherwise. Now that I think about it I have started taking a new prenatal as of a few weeks ago and I have been taking it right before bed. Things have lightened up so I'm not as worried. I am going to continue drinking up water and am going to add gatorade to the mix too. Thanks again ladies!!
As far as Gatorade goes, I recommend Recharge if you can find it!
It's healthier, all juices, still filled with electrolytes and doesn't have high fructose corn syrup in it. I THINK Gatorade also contains sucrose, which is a really bad form of sugar.
I can find it at some grocery stores, and the health food store.
