Check up appt and GD test

Ok, so the test wasnt bad at all. tasted like orange soda, which i like! it didnt make me sick at all, WHEW! went upstairs after i drank it and had m checkup. I gained 2 lbs, thats 14 lbs total so far. BP 120/70 (which is lower than last time), she was upset with me cause my urine was dark and i should drink more. i was like um, its 8:15 am and i had my GD test. i avoided everything in prep for it LOL. she isnt too concerned with my headaches, probably hormonal she said. i asked if i would get to tour the maternity ward, answer: nope, they dont do that anymore. but she did give me directions on where to go when the time comes. OY VEY! Then i asked who would deliver, and my dr is part of a rotation, so i will get whoever is there at the time. THIS i didnt like! again, OY VEY! so she measured me, im perfect. she whipped out the dopplar and as soon as she touched my belly Kendra kicked ehr. it took her about 5 minutes to get the HB (150ish) cause kendra was going crazy in there! The comment was made that i "have a wild one in there" LOL, but she and pregnancy is going perfectly!

so at 28 weeks, they start making every 2 week appts. im 27, so i am scheduled for June 22nd which is in 3 weeks, then every 2 after that! YAYAYAYAYA for being in 3rd trimester Biggrin

YAY for a good appt! Sorry your Dr may not deliver and you don't get a tour, that stinks! But at least everything else is going good. I will be 28 weeks at my next appt at the end of the month and she 'might' go one more monthly appt which I'll be 32, then every other week for a couple appts then every week, or she may start going every 2 weeks. Some of them do it a bit differently than other's so hard to say. Either way alot of us are on the home stretch! Time is going to go by VERY fast now!!

Glad the appt. went well and that the glucose test wasn't too bad. Sucks about the tour though, it seems like most hospitals do them now. My OB is on a rotation too of 3 doctors. I knew this from last time and they made sure to mention it to me again at the beginning of this pg. They urged me to make appts. with all of them so that there would be no surprises on delivery day. I've been regularly seen by two but I have yet to officially meet the third, though he seems nice. Maybe you can talk to some of the other doctors on the rotation??

Yay for the third trimester. I've been going every three weeks but at 28 weeks I will start going every two weeks and then at 32 weeks I will start going every week. I will be 26 weeks at my next appt. so I'm almost there. I can't believe how fast the time has gone.

Glad you had a great appt. Seems like Carter and Kendra are alot alike already. LOL!

Sorry about the tour. Maybe you could call up there and ask one of the nurses if they could show you around?

I know it is frustrating about your dr maybe not delivering you. Alot of our patients are the same way with their dr since there's usually more than 2 in a practice. That's a good thing about my dr. He's the only one! Time is flying by now.

Glad it was a good appointment and the glucose test wasn't too bad for you. I personally hate it, and last time I had to do both- the one hour and the three hour. YUCK. I've got my fingers crossed for you that you pass this one and don't have to take the other one!

Not knowing who is going to deliver your baby is stressful. I have the same situation with my midwife- whichever midwife is on call is the one who will deliver me. It was different with the OB I had with DD- she was solo practitioner, so I had about a 98% chance that she would be the one to deliver DD (and she was).

Sorry about your dr and the tour! Do they at least have a website so you can take a look at pictures? Maybe if you took a hospital birthing class they'd give you a peak? My midwife is one of two so it'll probably be one or the other, though my last birth there was only one midwife and she couldn't make it so I ended up with the on call ob. I am hoping this time I can get my favorite midwife.
Crazy we're already getting to every 2 week appointments. I was kind of wondering what my midwife would do, my last pregnancy my 2 week appts started at 26 weeks but I was having a few issues with PTL already, and my next appt is at 27, so I wonder what they'll do this time?

My Doctor is the only dr in his offic. the female that i see the most doesnt deliver, and she is great!! Apparently there are several in rotation from other offices, i didnt think to ask how many. it really doesnt matter, i dont know any of them either way. As for the tour, what they dont realize, is i'm a b*tch and i WILL get in there to see what is what in there! even if im uninvited Wink i cant stand the idea of walking into something unknown. i need familiarity or the whole experience will not be good for me.

I hope to god i passed the GD test, i hope to find out on Monday.

I'm sure you know this, but even if you fail this test, it doesn't mean that you have GD. The one hour test is just a screening. If you fail it, you have to take the three hour test (drink the same icky stuff except you have to have been fasting, and they draw your blood four times over the course of three hours) to determine whether or not you actually have GD. I failed the one hour test with DD and passed the three hour with flying colors. But it is a MAJOR pain to have to do, so here's hoping we all pass the one hour!!!

I knew all of it except that they draw blood 4 times over 3 hours! i can handle the blood being drawn, its the fasting i dont like!!!! if i dont eat, i literally get sick fromlack of eating. i can only imagine how horrible that will be, i pray i passed the first one! Thanks.

I am glad the appointment went well. We don't have tours here either. In my experience though, at the time, you will not care if you deliver in a hallway...

People are usually pretty good at recognizing a woman in labour and will dumby proof everything for you!
