Coming up with boy names is not an easy task!!!

You would think that I am used to coming up with boy names because we never knew the gender of my other two pregnancies, so we needed to pick out one of each. Well the boy names we chose for the other 2 pregnancies are no longer ones I really like surprisingly enough. Well, I shouldn't say that, one was taken by a good friend and the other name was shared with some family members and was totally shot down ( this got me thinking)......soooooo, back to the baby names book for us.

I am really liking the name Joel lately. I am a big fan of biblical names. It is not at all common in my area (at least at church, with my family, friends, etc. ) Even as a teacher, I honestly don't even know any Joels so for me it is an uncommon name, I guess!

I have come up with these three (that DH and I actually agree with) They are first, middle and our last name:

Joel Aaron Harder
Joel Robert Harder (middle name is my father's first and DH's grandfather so it sentimental for us)
Joel Daniel Harder

Any thoughts on these? Likes or dislikes? Be honest!!!! I can take it!! Wink

To me, Joel Daniel doesn't flow as nicely as the others, though I love the name Daniel. My vote would be for Joel Aaron, except that I like when people have family names they can use, so I'd lean toward Joel Robert.

I don't know if you're looking for any more suggestions, but when I first read the post, my first thoughts for Joel were Joel Allen and Joel Ethan.

I always try and have a family name in my childrens names some how, so I would vote Joel Robert.

I LOVE the name Joel. It was one of my favorite picks for this baby, but DH totally vetoed it... along with every other name that I like...

I like the flow of Joel Aaron best, but I also love using family names, so I like Joel Robert as well. Two very good choices!

I also like how Joel Robert flows. It sounds really good together Smile

I hear ya on boys names. We gave up because we couldn't agree on anything and decided to name this baby after DH so he will be Saul Ashley S Jr. and we will call him Ash.

Ooh, thanks ladies for the opinions! Dh liked Joel Robert the best, too. I am really so happy to be using my father's name as Joel's middle name.

My dad is battling prostate cancer. He does have a more aggressive form of it and it spread to a lymph node. Sad My prayer is that he will be around a while and get to know his only grandson and watch him grow.

Thanks again!

I like Joel Robert as well...it flows nicely and it's a bonus that the name is sentimental to you.

My first thought reading that was Joel Robert went nicely together. If this one is a boy I actually dread having to do the whole baby name thing. We still have the option of the boys name from when I was pregnant with Heather, however both hubby and I have both agreed we're not sure if we still like it or not. It's not a horrible name by any means, but that was almost 4 years ago and obviously our likes must have changed. Funny though, after 7 years from my first till Heather, we always stuck with having a Heather Anne that name wasn't debatable etc, and now that I have a boys name, we're not sure if it'll be used or not. Saturday I get to end that debate one way or another!

We have always had the middle name signify a family member with each child, I really like it and like to think they are carrying on a family name.
