cross your fingers-UPDATE END THREAD

I need some prayers ladies. I went in this morning w major cramping going on. I do have protein in my urine so the doc put me on antibiotics...but he did an internal exam and is sending me for another ultrasoundbecuase he is worried about my cervix. I had a LEAP procedure done in 07 for cervical cancer and he is afraid the cervix might be thinning out already. Keep me in ur prayers that its just a bad bladder infection. I should know later today when they will do the ultrasound sometime this week.

They got me in tomorrow morning at8:30 . I've spent most of the day in bed except to eat and of course pee. My little puppy has been great I think she knows something is wrong cause she won't leave my side. Now I'm wondering if she knew it before me because all this week she has even been sleeping w me and if I don't let her she sits at the door and whines....she has NEVER done that before. Normally she wants.to play w the cats all night. As soon as I know something ill post. Thank you for all the prayers.

Oh my! My friend had the same thing (previous LEAP). They did a cerclage (sp?) I think, where they stitched her cervix closed.

I hope you are doing okay. Please stay off your feet as much as possible until your u/s!

So the good news is the cervix has not thinned and the little man is still looking good and active. He is still definitely a boy and weighs 1/2 a lb....the not so good news is that is was having early contractions. They have stopped for now but I have to be very careful and if they start again call immediately. At this point I'm not sure what it all means until my doc calls me but I'm just going to stay off my feet as much as possible for now and have SO really start getting the house set cause I have a bad.feeling I might end up on bedrest before the end...

Has anyone else had this happen in previous pregnancies?

Cheryl, rest, rest rest. Good idea to stay off your feet. Drink water, watch your favorite shows. Relax. Im sorry this is happening, but it sounds like your Dr. is on it. I know they can put you on meds if need be to stop contractions. It depends on what is going on with your and your body. I am sure our resident nurses have a better idea and advice for you on that than I do though.

Glad to hear that your cervix is looking ok. Early contractions aren't good but I feel like I've heard that can happen with UTIs? Make sure you get lots of rest. The good thing is, now that they know they'll be monitoring you more closely and will hopefully be able to stop if it happens again (fingers crossed it won't).

UTI's can DEF cause contrax.

AFM, my last pregnancy I was diagnosed with "irritable uterus" (so far not an issue this time). I started having real contractions about 12 weeks and was immediately put on modified bed rest. Since the contrax would stop when I rested, I was allowed to do some activities, but as soon as they started I had to get off my feet IMMEDIATELY.

I made it to 25 weeks before being able to do less and less before resting. By 30 weeks I was pretty much on full "couch" rest. Then the little bugger came out induced at 40 weeks and 6 days!

There is hope when rest is involved. :goodluck:

Good to hear everything is okay!! I had PTL with my first and had multiple u/s that showed my cervix shortening. They put me on a drug called Procardia to help slow the contrax but I had to keep taking more and more of it to hold them back. The good thing was my little guy tolerated the contrax really well in all the NST they had me do. I finally got to stop taking the medication at 37 weeks and my contrax picked up a lot. I ended up going into the hospital at 39 weeks and they broke my water because the never ending contrax were just really wearing me out. He was born 6 hours later!

I'm so glad everything is okay! I agree with everyone else- just rest, rest, rest. Some women do have contractions from very early on and end up with a full term baby. Try not to worry until you have to. Just take precautions and try to relax!

Thank you everyone for the positive advice. I do feel better and have been off my feet as much as possible. Im going to try to go back to work tomorrow and see what happens. I figure i will just have to plan on sitting during my classes. Luckily i can sit and play the piano, Ill just have to get a few book to put on the bench cause im a little short and can't see the students over the piano..lol.

It was good to hear others had contractions early on and carried to term. I still have a bad feeling that i will be put on bedrest before the end but all i want is a healthly little boy. Honestly all I want to make it to is the concerts which are may 17 and 18. after that I dont care if I have to stay in bed. Im still scared but I can get thru this! I have all of you to help.

On a positive note I was able to confirm that the blips Ive been feeling are the little guy. He was all over the place during the ultrasound and was kicking. I asked te tech how he was positioned and his feet were right where I was felling the movement. Yahoo

Well I'm glad it's not a thinning cervix but thats scary, early contractions. I hope you and baby are well and the contractions stay clear for a long while! Smile

Glad the news was pretty positive. Take good care of yourself and don't over do it. I was on bedrest with my first pregnancy, and while it was a bit of a pain, it went by fairly quickly and she was born on her due date. I hope things settle down for you now and those contractions stay away for several more months!
