So DH and I had a date last night.
I'm still at my MIL's house and he came down for the weekend. However, because of the amount of room at his mom's house, the boys and I are cramped into one little room and he sooo doesn't like that, so when he's here he sleeps at his Gramma's house in the next town over.
So Friday night I asked his mom to watch the boys so that we could have dinner alone for once. She was cool with it. Then DH tells her that she has to put the boys to bed cause we'll be out late. Okay.. a little background here. DH and I are AMAZED that he survived childhood with her cause she's soooooooo blonde (no offense to the hair color meant). So I was debating all through dinner if we were, in fact, going to go see the movie that didn't start until 9pm. If it was just our oldest, then I'd not worry about her (and him) but she was in charge of both the boys and Daniel still needs diapers and doesn't talk coherently all the time (he's only 2 after all). My one reassurance was that she knows our cell phone numbers and could call any time she needed to. So we went for the movie.
There was an hour and a half to kill between dinner and the movie and we are in a VERY small town that closes everything up at 5pm, even on Saturdays. So the only places to go were bars and restaurants. So we had to get creative. We walked around "down town" to see what's changed since we were teenagers (that was the last time we were actually down town with time to kill since then). The town has totally gone to the hippies. Lots of candle stores and crystal stores and natural healing places and..... We've decided we will NOT retire here when the time comes.
So after that we still had an hour. So we went to the movie theater and sat in the car for 45 minutes and talked. It was a good bonding time. We talked about the pregnancy and the baby and when I laid back the car seat into reclining position he took note of the fact that when I lay back I just look overweight and not pregnant. This was said in a VERY good tone, BTW. We agreed that I'm carrying this baby different than the other two and he doesn't think it has anything to do with the fact that it's our third, or that I started off 20lbs less this time than the other two times. He thinks it TRUELY is different this time.
Anyway, I'm rambling.
Just wanted to share with you the GREAT date we had. It was the first date in a LONG time that didn't feel awkward and I think actually brought us closer together. Rather nice. I think part of that is that we went "home" to two separate houses. I felt like a teenager again. I wanted to text him all night long. "No, YOU hang up... "

Glad you had a nice date...it's always good to get away and have some "couple" time.
