Kaylee has to have an x-ray

I was told it was because she was breech. I'm not entirely sure why or what they are looking for. Anyone know why?

Probably something with her hips. I know that that is one worry with breach babies, not sure what about them but they worry about their hips

Hips is what I was thinking, too. Perhaps they are displaced? Sometimes if hips are out of place there's a special cast babies have to wear for a while.

I'm not sure but hope all is well! If you're really worried, ask about why they think she needs one. KUP on what's going on!

I agree that it is most likely checking for hip dysplasia. KUP!

an xray or an ultrasound?

Girls who were breech at birth are at the highest (but still quite low) risk for hip dysplasia. In general, we get ultrasounds on any breech baby that has a hip click or clunk on exam (where the doctor holds the legs at the knee and pressed gently down, then rotates the leg outwards).

Most of the time it's fine. If there IS some degree of hip dysplasia, most orthos use something called a pavlik harness to correct it. It's kind of a pain to use, but doesnt hurt anybody.

i was wrong, it is an u/s and i was told it is to do with her hips. i actually had to reschedule it because both babies were really congested and were up all night. I'll update when we have it next week
