Milk supply

Carter is 2 1/2 wk old and I noticed today that I still have some milk in my breasts. I just happened to notice some dried up on my nipple when I was taking a shower today. Tonight, I went to put lotion on and I can express some from both sides. I didn't get real aggressive with it though. Makes me seriously consider trying to pump and seeing how much I can get out. I was almost ok with the fact that I was formula feeding. I've been doing research on the web about relactation. I've also started to talk to the LC that I work with. I think it will be alot of work. I'm also so scared that it won't work and I'll be disappointed all over again. What would you girls do?

If your researching it & talking to an LC I'd say it's something your wanting & would be worth trying! I have a dear friend who almost lost her supply due to an illness & was able, with the help of an LC & some supplements to re-lactate so I think it's worth giving it a go Smile

I would definitely do everything I could to nurse.

But I'm a little biased coz I wanted so so badly to nurse and couldn't.

I think its worth it, bfing is so much easier. But if it doesn't work, don't become disappointed in yourself, you tired. Its a hard thing to do. I'm going to try with these guys, just because I had such success with DD1 but if it doesn't work then thats how it will be.

BTW, I bf my DD1 until she was almost 10 months and I could still get a little bit of milk out almost 1 yr later.

Trying something again never hurts. If it doesn't work out, then oh well, don't beat yourself up about it. Smile

After I weaned Brandon I could still express milk for months. I've heard that you can get your supply going again after you stopped, you would just have to pump a lot I think.

If you're working with an LC and are interested then it's worth a shot! I've helped many moms do it succesfully in your same situation.

I lost my milk during the height of my ppd with DD. With the help of my LC (who is also my doctor), and Domparidone, I got my supply back.

I say give it a try! Good luck!

I totally agree! I've heard stories of adopted moms who wanted to nurse and started pumping and taking supplements and were able to nurse their adopted babies! Our bodies can do amazing things.
