My journey from Bed rest-Birth(Micro-Preemie)(Journal+Pictures)

I wanted to start this as a place to update everyone, add pictures, share my thoughts, etc. I hope everyone doesn't mind. If it needs to be moved to a private place, I will certainly comply. Eventually I will post my bed rest stories leading up to my birthing story but for now I am just going to post pictures.

  • My favorite thing to do with Kailey is called Kangaroo Care. It is where you strip down and you hold your baby skin-to-skin. It helps the baby's growth development and to build that bond of course.

  • My favorite thing to watch on her is her hands. They are SO tiny but just like ours and I find that so fascinating how she moves them around and she has such long fingers. She loves, loves, to sleep with her hands in many different positions. But most of all I love holding her hand and feeling her squeeze my finger when she hears my voice

  • Another great highlight of my day is when my baby girl opens her eyes and looks at me. When she was born 10 days ago her left eye was still fused together. Look at her now!

  • And here is Kailey doing what she does best and doing what she needs...

July 4th, 2011

Today is Kailey's 1st Holiday! She is also 28 weeks today! YAY!! So a few good things and a few not so good things. First I'll start with the good things. She is off her C-pap!!

Yahoo!! She is also doing VERY well off the c-pap. She is known as the "Superstar" of the NICU which of course gives me some pride in my heart.

Not so good thing, Kailey had an ultrasound done on her brain and she has an atypical brain bleed in her thalmus. We are hoping and praying that this goes away miraculously or that the affects of this bleed is very minimal. Something new to pray for!

Other than that, she is just growing away! She gained 23 grams in the last 24 hours so she is on her way to gaining back to what she weighed at birth. Right now she is 1lb. 11.5 oz. and still 13 in. long.

She is so precious, thank you for starting this so we can share in your journey with you. You are a strong momma, before you know it she'll be a big girl and all over the place. I'm so glad you get to do kangaroo care, that is so important.

I don't think these pics should be moved at all! She's doing wonderfully, I love the pic with both her eyes open! She's adorable and looks like she's doing so well. I'm sure I can speak for everyone on the board when I say thank you for sharing your story and your pics with us! Please continue to update us and share pics when you can! :openarms:

Updated-July 4th.

Thank you everyone and I am really honored that you girls want to share this journey with me.

My other kids are handling this well but thinks she's too small. Well, can I blame them? ;)They both can't wait to hold her and be able to feed her. I can't wait for that too.

**Lurker**

I just wanted to wish you the best and send you prayers. That little guy in my siggie was born at 26 weeks weighing 1 1/2 pounds. I look at your pics and I remember it all. I agree, Kangaroo care is the best!!!! If there is ever anything you think talking to someone who has been there done that can help with feel free to reach out to me. I don't lurk here to often but I want to try to follow your story - I am a reg on the Nov 2011 board. Good luck to you and your family...these little babies are just amazing!!!

Thank you for sharing your pictures of Kailey with us. I hope she is continuing to get stronger and stronger and that the brain bleed turns out to be only a minor hiccup.

Yay for coming of c-pap!!!

Brain bleeds are fairly common in micro preemie's are they not? We will continue to think of you and your family! Loving the updates!
