Ok, I have just a couple minutes to update before Simone wakes up and wants to eat!!!!
Let me just say, Simone.IS.BEAUTIFUL. I am completely biased in saying this but she is so Stinking cute. I cant stand it. Brief background. She was supposed to be delivered this past Friday afternoon(9/16). I went in last Monday morning(9/12) for my pre-op appt and my blood pressure was high, so labs were ordered and I was to be monitored. BP went down to the 130/90-ish range(it was initially 156/106) and the on call OB wanted to consult with my OB on what to do. (husband and wife team). When I was told this I KNEW we were going to be given the choice to wait or to deliver that day. Sure enough, Dr. Stringer comes to me with a choice. I have him call Derek and he's very straightforward, tells him as a father what he would do if he were in Derek's shoes.
Derek says it is up to me ultimately. So I said let's do it. if we don't we'll be worried all week about my bp. is it up? Is it ok? So Derek gets the kids together, takes them to my friend Lisa's and no joke 10 mins after he gets to the hospital (what a relief to see him) the OR calls for us. As the nurse is gathering the last bit of info to take to the OR, I had an internal panic attack. "I don't want to do this, I'm scared of the epidural, I'm not ready." As quickly as I had those thoughts, I closed my eyes, breathed and told myself to build a bridge and get over it. Surprisingly I was ok. But I did tell the nurse in the OR that I was VERY nervous for some reason about the epidural. She was fantastic. ALL of the OR nurses were. We had alot of laughs in that room. Dr. Stringer was great, he told Derek "Get that flash ready, dad, here she comes." So Derek got to look over the screen and literally watch her come into the world AND photograph it. She cried immediately. They had these warm blankets on me so I was sweating and crying and my glasses were fogging. It was so funny.
They took her to be assessed and Derek kept talking to me telling me how she was doing "She's really pink....she just peed.....her eyes are open..." Etc. So awesome. Her apgars were 9 and 10. After that, they brought her to me, took pics and Derek went with her to the nursery while they finished with me. More laughs from everyone, and even in recovery the nurses asked "Were you all having a party in there?"
They let Derek bring Simone to me and the recovery nurse encouraged me to feed her and boy am I glad I did. She is a PRO. Seriously. So proud of my girl.
wt: 6lbs 7oz
She is our biggest baby by exactly 1lb. She came out with a head full of hair and super long finger nails.
Marisa and Shayna LOVE her. Joseph...well, he looks at her but would not come near me at the hospital. As soon as we got home he warmed up to her. The last night at the hospital night (some of you may have seen this on my fb page) Marisa was singing lullaby's to Simone when they came to visit.
I feel like I've left out a ton of details. Other than just talking about how I waited and waited before my OB's husband came in to talk to me, not much to talk about.
Here is a pic of her in the dress and shoes I made. She was pretty ticked at me and kicked off one of her shoes
