SLEEP!

How are things going in this department? For you and your lo?

Daniel is having a rough time with going to sleep and staying asleep. His naps are super crummy these days. I follow the Healthy Sleep Happy Child terchniques and put him down before he shows sleepy signs or if he has been up for longer than an 1 hour, but he still doesn't settle. IT took me 3 hours to get him down last night and I started when he was calm and not overly tired.

I don't get it. Crying baby right now, I add more later!!

They girls sleep between 2-4 hours @ night. If its a good night they wake up together, if not then I'm up and down all night!

Audrey naps well during the day, and at night tends to give me one good stretch of 3-5 hours, then is up every 1-2 hours after that. That being said, she is in our bed right now, and won't sleep in the flippin cradle at all! I took the rockers off cause I thought the movement was the problem. I've put my robe in it so it smells like me. Have tried swadddling her. Nothing works.

She'll sleep fine by herself in the middle of our bed, so its not that she just wants to be cuddled up to me. I just don't get it. But I want her out of our bed!

Oh, and I got our swing back, which has been a lifesaver during the day!

My babies tend to be good sleepers...their Daddy can fall asleep anytime/anywhere even standing up, and both my babies have been about that way. Shaylynn sleeps a lot, sometimes I have to work hard to keep her awake for a while. She does about a 9 hour stretch at least most every night and has been since she was 6 weeks old.

We sleep about 5 to 6 hours a night, in the day time we take between 10-30 cat naps all day until about 7pm. She isn't grumpy, crabby, either in these time frames, but she will stayt up for about two hours before a cat nap.

We've had 2 weeks of 9pm-6am (except for 2 days) in her crib. If she wakes in the night I end up co sleeping because I can only get her to sleep once in the crib. I try periodically but it goes horrible and I get no sleep and then have issues the following day with DD1.

During the day she sleeps in the baby carrier. Again, she won't lay down to sleep. The swing might keep her asleep but she won't sleep there. If she sleeps she is super happy when she awake. I worked on sleep training with DD1 at 4-5 months and she is a great sleeper so I'll wait until then to start sleep training this time too.

I almost hate to even post it for fear of jinxing it but he sleeps wonderfully! He is the earliest any of my kids has ever slept through the night and he sleeps better than DD2 and DS1 did at a year old Lol Last night he went 8pm-6am. That was really good even for him, usually he wakes up once at 4-5am and goes down at 8-9pm. Naps still aren't regular but I can tell they are going to be soon, he's definitely starting to have 3 really good 'naps' during the day with a few times of just dozing off for a half hour or so.

Daytime naps are still very hit and miss. Like right now, he's been asleep quite soundly for over an hour, so I have finally had time to catch up on some chores and even get some computer time! I try every day to get him to take regular naps, but sometimes due to my schedule or just his stubbornness, he might only get cat naps all day. The last two days have been pretty good though.

At night, he's a champ. He goes to bed between 9 and 10 (9 is bath time, then cuddle and a bottle time, then into his crib for the night). He then wakes up twice in the night, some time between 2 and 4 (depending on how much he ate during bed time routine), and ALWAYS at 6:30. His final wake up time is between 7:30 and 10am, depending on how well I can settle him down at his 6:30 feeding. His wake ups in the night are rarely longer than 30 mins for a bottle and diaper change (if needed), so I am getting my 8 hours every night.

Damien has been pretty good (at least in my opinion!) since birth. He'll take two naps about 2 hours each during the day (sometimes 3 hours).... up for a couple of hours at a time. At night, he sleeps usually for a 5 hour chunk, then a 3 hour chunk, then a 3 hour chunk. He is awake for 45 minutes to around an hour at a time when he wakes to eat and go back to sleep.

Once he's sufficiently asleep, he transfers well and stays asleep, but sometimes I try to rush him and he doesn't sleep through the transfer.

Cassandra is a marathon sleeper, apparantly.

We get ready for bed starting at 8 (with big brother) and she's usually down by 9. SHe gets up usually around 2, then 5ish, and goes right back to sleep. I try to feed her again before I leave for work around 7:30. She's usually awake more or less from then until about 10, after she's fed again then takes a nap until lunch time at 12ish, when I feed her again.

She usually sleeps for 3-4 hours in the afternoon, and wakes up around 530/6ish. Sometimes she takes a bit of a nap after that, but we get her up for bed/bath, and it all starts over again.

Ours varies. Seems like for the most part we get 4-6 hour stretches. I wish he would STTN but it doesn't look like that is going to happen anytime soon.

Hate to tell you, but a 5-6 hour stretch *is* officially considered STTN for an infant.

Kendra is doing great with sleeping and has since she hit 6 weeks! She doesnt sleep alot during the day for my SIL so by 8 or 8:30 she is fed and asleep, usually without any hassles. typically she sleeps til 4 or 5am straight. tis morning she was up at 3:45 ready to eat. she naps for me on the weekends, but then she has mom holding her alot too (thats my story and im sticking to it Smile ) even when she naps alot, she sleeps good. now if only mom can that much sleep

I've never been so sleep deprived in all my life and it's really wearing me down. All my kids have slept through the night by 2 weeks EXCEPT for Markus Sad He's 8 weeks old now and I've only had two nights where he slept 5-6 hours. He's a real cluster feeder so he likes to nurse....... well... ALL the time! Last night he was nursing on me from 8pm-12am... I put him down and he was up again to nurse at 3:30, 5 and 7:30.

I have three other kids to take care of so right now he's sleeping and that's when I do dishes, laundry, tidy up the house, catch up on emails etc. He tends to only nap for 15 minutes here and there during the day, the rest of the time I'm either nursing or he's in the moby. He will sleep happily after a nurse on me but I'm always trying to put him somewhere so I can get things gone (like the swing) but he always wakes up within 1-15 minutes. If I'm not doing that he'll be fussing/crying. He hates the swing, the bouncy chair, the carseat, the playmat... he only wants to nurse or be carried. I'm absolutely EXHAUSTED. Also he will ONLY sleep if he's on his stomach and if he's in our bed so that's usually where he is at night.... lots of broken horrible sleep over here... oh well, thankfully he's so cute and smells good!! :):)

Sleep is going ok for us. Nights are easier than the day.

During the day he is a very light sleeper and wants to be held all the time. He generally takes one good 4-hour nap and a bunch of cat naps. He's not a huge fan of the swing or the bouncy seat so those don't really help. He tends to wake up the second I put him down and he won't really fall asleep on his own so it's a vicious cycle.

At around 9-11, we feed, change, and swaddle him and he goes down for the night. He wakes at around 3 or 4 and goes right back down. He usually wakes again at around 6 or 7 but sometimes he sleeps until we leave to take Brandon to school at 8:15. Chris usually feeds him at those times because I get up at 3 and 6 to pump.

I haven't had time to read everything.. but I just wanted to say that I only sleep okay at night and that's if I co-sleep. I'm trying to make her sleep in the bassinet, so I try to put her down there during the day, but I'm just not making much success at it.

I'll be back later to read what everyone else said and comment on those.

Alice doesn't go down for the night til midnight or so still, but thankfully the all evening crying jags are almost gone. She typically sleep 3-4 hours, eats, then sleeps another 2-4 hours, then eats, then sleeps another 1-3 hours. She takes a nap in the morning, usually naps at naptime (thank God) and sometimes takes a nap in the evening.

I'm thankful she isn't like Stella, she ate every 2hours round the clock for 6 months. I think it helped that I knew how to start bf'ing to get a good milk supply this time.

I have to admit, for having twins I'm getting a lot more sleep then I thought I would. Usually one sleeps atleast 8 hrs (which use to be Brad but is Kaylee now) and the other sleeps 3-4. So I'm only getting up a couple times a night. Hopefully they both will start sleeping 8 hrs soon.

Selah is doing really well. She's go down between 9:00 and 9:30 in the cradle and wake 6 hours later between 3 and 3:30... this week, she stretched it to 4:15 one night! Right back to sleep after eating and up around 6:00 or 6:30 to eat again. She's stay awake then and then takes about 3 long naps during the day and catnaps the occassional nap as well. Starting to get into a nurse, play, nap routine during the day which is great! She is definitely my best sleeper so far! My other two didn't STTN until about 9 or 10 months, so I'm feeling really rested!

We are doing much better than we were a couple of weeks ago... thank goodness! I had just about reached the breaking point. Naps are still not consistent, but he will occasionally take one now, so that's an improvement ;-). At night he has started doing one 4-6 hour stetch, eats, then goes back down for 2-3 hours. It's been wonderful to sleep for more than one hour at a time! Right now he sleeps best in his bouncy seat- he likes to be on an incline. I keep meaning to start having him nap in his crib, or at least move the bouncy seat into his room, so he can get used to it. Maybe I will start that on Monday.

I relate to that Wink DD2 slept with me until she was almost 21 months old and getting her out of my bed was still awful at that age, that's when I vowed that if we had more kids I wouldn't cosleep Lol I have still just not all night. DS1 coslept until he was about 3-4 months and then we moved him to his crib and Isaiah sleeps most of the night in his crib but when he wakes up (he only wakes once, early am) I bring him into bed with us until it's time to wake up. He's getting close to sleeping through the night so hopefully he'll just cut that out all on his own. He only sleeps in his crib if he's swaddled or on his belly though, at night we swaddle, naps on his belly.

We are still having a rough time over here!! Daniel just doesn't stay asleep for any longer than maybe 20 minutes at a time and at night he is waking every hour or so.

I put him down when he isn't fussy so I don't understand. When things like this happens, I always question my milk supply.

Alot better. She's down for the night about 1030 after a feeding. That feeding usually puts her to sleep.then up between 6 and 7 to eat then will usually sleep until the next feeding. During the day she may sleep in the bouncer, the swing, my chest. We are working on getting her to the crib, last night was the first night in the crib and she did good. Then naps should be in the crib too. Her naps are usually 1-2 hours then up for an hour or so. For the most part she is usually in my arms to fall asleep or falls asleep after eating. If she falls asleep on her own its usually after screaming her head off which isn't often cuz I can't handle it
