Suggestions for nap time

I just don't know what I am doing wrong? I am doing the eat-play-sleep routine with Daniel and making sure he doesn't stay awake too long during the day. I put him down before he shows crabby, sleepy signs but just works himself up when I lay him down. HE cries and screams and I pick him up, comfort and soothe him then lay him down again. Again he fusses and cries until I nurse him to sleep... I suppose I am trying to hard to get him on a schedule now? I just want him to space his feedings so he eats well instead of just snacking all day long.

Also, I want him to have digested his food before he sleeps otherwise he is constantly waking to burp or spit up.

When I finally get him to sleep it is only for a short amount of time (because he has missed the non-fussy window of sleeping) Soooo.... aside from wearing him ALL day long to get him to sleep, I don't know what to do?? My first dd was amazing with sleep, second dd wasn't so good and I fear Daniel is following in her footsteps....

Any suggestions? Do you nurse your baby to sleep? Is my milk supply just low and he isn't getting enough to satisfy him and putting him to sleep? I don't understand why he isnt sleeping well for naps. I think he took one 1 hour nap today since 11am it is now 5:35 pm. Sad This is ridiculous.

I honestly don't think you are doing anything wrong. Brandon was a great napper and CJ not so much...they're just different babies. No matter how much you want them to be on a schedule he may just not be ready yet, or it might take him a while longer. No method will work for every baby. What he's doing sounds a lot like what CJ started doing this week and I think he's going through a growth spurt, so could that maybe be it? Since he seems to be growing well I don't think it's a supply issue. I don't really have any suggestions since we just kind of do everything on demand according to his cues, but I would just continue doing what you're doing and eventually he should get it.

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Carter fights sleep so bad every day, all day. But, sleeps ok at night. I say just ok though. LOL! Hope you can find something that works.

I don't think you're doing anything wrong, either. DD was like that for naps, but after awhile she settled in and became a great napper. Ronan has some days where he naps great, and others where he doesn't want to nap at all. I think it's still hit or miss at this point. And I agree with Lenora- I don't think there's a method that works for every baby. It's just trial and error until you figure out what that particular child likes. My kids have also always boycotted naps during growth spurts, so I'm never sure what's going on! Good luck- I hope it gets better for you soon!

Nap times are pretty rough at my house. Andrew wont fall asleep on his own for naps so I spend a decent amount of time getting him to fall asleep and then once I lay him down sometimes he will sleep for 2 hours and sometimes he will sleep for 20 minutes. If he doesn't get a good nap between each feeding then he is super cranky the rest of the day.

Brayden was like that - he took 4 15 minute naps for MONTHS. And was up every 2-3 hours all night for over a year.

Cassandra isnt like that so far - she apparantly likes to sleep. I dont thinkyou can force it. Maybe drop the eat-play-sleep thing and just go withthe flow for a week or 2?

I don't think you are doing anything wrong either. Isaiah is sleeps wonderfully at night...but during the day? Not so much. I don't nurse him to sleep but he does almost always fall asleep in my arms and I have to wait until he's in a pretty deep sleep to set him down, and then I have to carefully lay him on his belly. It's just what works for him and even then, my older kids wake him up a lot.

Have you tried a kind of upright position for a nap? Sometimes that has helped when either of my boys were resisting naps.

Sometimes just the swing, without it being on, makes them sleep.
