Teething out of order

Evie's been drooling non stop since early December. She's been showing pretty much all the other signs and symptoms of teething for a while, too. But no sign of teeth buds until yesterday. Yesterday I felt in her mouth and had to take a look.. she has a tooth on the brink of erupting. But it's not a lower center. It's also not a top center. Not even a lateral! It's a freaking canine! Everything I've read suggests that the order "should" (but not always) goes lower centers, upper centers, upper laterals, lower laterals, then molars and THEN canines. I suppose there is a chance still that it will go back up into hiding (it's an upper) and wait until the proper time, but it's so close to popping through that I feel if I push hard enough on the gums that it will break through. :ouch:

Anyone else deal with out of order teething before? I'm tempted to call my dentist today and pick her brain about it. This is crazy! Lol

Thats crazy.Poor girl, that must be really painful for her. K still doesn't have any teeth but B has his two lower centers. Ks are on the brink though. I had to look hard today to see if they had popped through or not.

Flynn had a molar all the way out before Christmas- it stayed out for a month and then went back in. During that time, I read up on it and there really is nothing to worry about.

I didn't either. My Mom told me it probably would go back in and then a few days passed and it didn't. Then my in-laws told me it could go back in- and a few days passed and it was still there. Then a little while later- it was gone! LOL! Man, I hate admitting my elders were right Wink

My cousin's baby has that exactly! Her right canine came in first and now she's working on her left canine and her bottom middle teeth (the other canine is just about to poke through so that'll come first).
My girls got their teeth in order but ds1 got one of his bottom middle teeth and then one of his top middle before the other bottom one. Like a little jack-o-lantern Smile Isaiah is teething but it's his bottom middle ones coming so his will probably come in order

So strange.

I showed it to my doctor when we went for her 6 month check up and she laughed and said "Janelle, did you forget to read her that section in the baby development book?" Smile Baby girl is playing the unique card on us. Wants to be special. Make sure we don't forget that she's different. Smile

I saw this yesterday in Jacob's mouth.... Think he might be unique too!

Catie got her teeth a little out of order. There's nothing wrong with it- the order they tell you is just the order they usually teeth in. A lot of kids do it a little differently, but it doesn't really matter.
