I've been chalking up sore nipples to the whole tongue tie/fixing latch thing...but...
her latch is better now, we're over a week out from surgery and they're hurting MORE, but not during nursing.
And saturday, I started getting random shooting pains on the left. Sunday, they got worse and spread to the right. This morning, Im itchy and burning.
I have Gentian violet, and I got the midwives to call in APNO and diflucan (this has GOT to be intraductal, nothing else feels like this). Here I thought I'd avoided it. GAH.
Bummer. Sounds a lot like what I'm feeling. I'm gonna call the doctor again and see if they'll take me seriously this time.

Hmm, I am beginning to wonder if we are having the same issue. Does the pediatrician treat this or do I need to see my OB?

yeah, you AND baby BOTH need to be treated even if only 1 of you has symptoms.
If it's just on the skin/mouth/nipples, you can treat it with OTC stuff called Gentian Violet. You want to get the 1% kind. You paint your nipples and baby's mouth with it once daily for 5 days.
IF you have a compounding pharmacy near you and you can afford it, the all purpose nipple ointment is also a good treatment.
This is Dr Jack Newman's protocol for thrush, it's what I use and what I recommend to my mommies who deal with it:
Oh no!! Hope you get it cleared up quickly
