What is your favorite carb loaded meal, snack etc?

I have started to make a list of foods that I would like to have after I have the baby. Having GD has limited me in what I can and can't have. I have a pretty good list but looking for other ideas just incase I missed something.

here is my list so far:
• Belgian Waffle
• Cheese steak from Pat’s wiz wit
• Crab Fries from Chickes and Petes
• Fries with cheese and gravy from a diner
• Broccoli pasta
• Lasagna w/ garlic bread
• Manicotti w/ garlic bread
• Krispy Kreme glazed donuts
• Vanilla chi tea
• Reese’s pieces Sundae
• Egg mc muffin w/ orange juice and a hash brown
• Homemade Mac and Cheese
• Old Italian Pizza from 2 Brothers
• Broccoli Pizza from Pizza Plus
• Breaded Zucchini
• Breaded Eggplant
• Breaded Mushrooms
• Onion Rings
• Dinner at the Melting Pot
• Shrimp LoMein from the Great Wall
• Sweet and Sour Chicken
• Chicken and Broccoli over angel hair
• Pizza Hut pizza
• Ice cream sandwich from Crazy Cones
• Tomato Mozzarella Panini from Panera Bread
• Smoke house Turkey from Panera Bread
• Baked potato soup from Panera Bread
• Broccoli Cheese Soup from Panera Bread
• Wendy’s Chicken Nuggets, Fries and a Frosty
• KFC bowl
• Stuffed French toast

Lol Anything pasta? We're big on pasta. I want to make a lasagna soon, *love* homemade lasanga!
My favorite snacks really aren't all that carb loaded. I love wheat thins and sharp cheddar cheese spread.

Well depending on the time of day.. I thing DH will be able to get one of the fast food items that I have on the list. I am sure my parents when they visit will have the krispy kreme donuts.

We eat a lot of pasta and rice here.

Since I'm Mexican I make a lot of Mexican food and it tends to be rather carb loaded: taquitos, flautas, nachos, enchiladas, etc.

Baked Potatoes...or potato anything really.

I'm not much of a snacker but I love to snack on fruit.

We aren't Mexican.. mostly Irish.. but we love Mexican food and for whatever reason, no matter what we either cook at home or have at one of our favorite Mexican places. My sugar hasn't been effected by it. I have been living on tacos for months.

With rice, we make Chinese porridge with chicken and rice and fresh ginger. SO GOOD. You cook the rice with extra water until it it's super soft and soupy. My fave....

As for the mexican food. You can ship some here ANYTIME you feel like it.

I love pasta salad. As a kid I hated it. Well I hated the Suddenly Salad pre packaged stuff. Homemade? OMG so tasty

I'm making Chicken Marsala for dinner tonight and I can hardly wait to get it in my mouth.

LOL I did that last time.

Problem was, I managed to make myself feel SO deprived that I GAINED 20 lbs while breastfeeding over the next year (left hospital 10 lbs under prepregnancy weight).

I really want a milkshake (last time it was a Frostie).

And I'd love to not have to look up nutritional information on every. damn. thing. I eat.

Or a molten chocolate cake.

just to eat somethign without having to obsess about my stupid blood sugar.

My plan ( lets hope I can stick to it) is to have everything on my "list" and then go back to doing this diabetic way of eating. So far I am down 15 lbs prepregnancy, I am hoping to lose a couple more after having this little one.

This thread makes me want to cry! I don't have GD, but with the ongoing hyperemesis I don't eat a lot, and there are certain things that are guaranteed to make me puke more. Anything greasy or really rich and heavy, anything involving lettuce (figure that one out!), anything with milk in it, pasta....I just want to be able to eat!!!!

Right now I would kill for an iced latte or a frappucino. I wouldn't even care if it was decaf. But the milk in it would take me out for the rest of the day, so its not worth it. I would really like a tall glass of ice cold skim milk. And I want a spinach salad with feta or goats cheese, almonds and strawberries in it, with this yummy maple syrup balsamic dressing. I want perogies with bacon and onion and sour cream.

Oh and poutine! I love poutine, and I can't even look at it. For our American friends its french fries with beef gravy and cheese curds. So delicious, and incredibly bad for you.

Ok...I am going to eat my plain toast now. The good thing about HG is quite literally as soon as I deliver the placenta the nausea is gone. DH will be going to the lobby to the coffee shop for my latte right away, he can make his phone calls as he's doing it!!

Wow that's quite the list you have!! I can eat all of that now, however I must say that after reading your list I'm now hungry for a Poutine   . Mental note to not read posts about food LOL.

:lurk:

ROFL This thread reminds me of when I had DD2 last October. I had GD too. My water broke and on the way to the hospital I made DH stop by Hardee's cause I NEEDED a curly fry and at that point I thought what the heck! It was amazing! I was telling the nurses while in labor that I must have a carb loaded meal as soon as she's out! Since it was 4am DH couldn't go out to get the steak n shake I had in mind, but the nurse did bring me a turkey sandwich on a croissant with pasta salad. The only thing I ate of the pasta salad was the pasta Lol It was sooooo gooooood!!! Like you, I had a list of things I wanted to eat after I had her. I did eat some of it but then I started gaining weight while bf'ing like a pp mentioned so I stopped and the newness had worn off anyway. I kept thinking, oh, I'll go back to the GD diet soon. It's been 10 months and I still cringe at the thought of the GD diet. Biggrin

I put one in my bag and Have it after the babe is born. Sorry to the health care professionals on the board, but I like a little control over my life in the hospital (and it is only one)

Pontine is one of the greatest pleasures in life! Fries, gravy, cheese - wonderful combo!

Not sure if I can do warm beer. Would make me feel like I am in college all over again, but a nice glass of wine.. that I could do.

Poutine is very easy to find here. Most restaurants and chip trucks sell it, and KFC does, too, mmmmm KFC's is so good, especially with their super thick gravy

I think you guys have poutine down there, it's just not called that. I see all kinds of people from the US talk about having fries with cheese and gravy, which is what we call Poutine here. You can also make your own... all you need is to go to the store, buy a package of cheese curds, some beef gravy and fries. You have to make sure that the gravy and fries are REALLY hot so that they melt the cheese. Just throw some cheese curds in with the fries, and then pour super hot gravy on top, then enjoy the ooey gooey goodness :D.

Damn, it's not even 10:30am and now I want poutine. I wonder if hubby would mind takeout tonight? ROFL

EDIT: Ok, so I was working on this post for about an HOUR, kept getting interrupted by my son, the phone, the neighbour etc. I guess I shoulda read ALL posts because everything I said, was already said LOL. Oh well, at least one thing's for sure - we all want poutine now Lol
