What's for dinner tonight?

So what's everyone doing tonight for dinner? Last night was a bust in our house so dh picked up pizza on the way home Lol Tonight I'm doing pork chops with carmelized onions, wild rice & a salad. Was thinking of doing chicken dumplings b/c it's cold here today but I don't have all the ingredients & I don't want to go to the store lol so that'll be tomorrow.

I'm having friends over for dinner, so we're doing some grilled steak, potatoes and vegetables in light rosemary seasoning, and a salad. And probably some fresh strawberries for dessert! I hit the grocery store today and stocked up on all my new diabetes friendly food (it cost a fortune, holy cow) and I'm kind of anxious about the new portion sizes... everything looks so tiny Sad

We went out tonight. My favorite place. On the Border. It's a mexican place for those that didn't know. Baby must have liked it because it hasn't stopped moving since I ate.

Picked up pizza on the way home Lol I took the kids to Barnes and Noble after school and we spent a little too much time browsing so it was about all we had time for apart from fast food and I didn't want that so pizza it was.
Tomorrow will be something fast and easy too, I have to be to the girls' dress rehearsal for dance by 5:30 and we'll be there till bedtime so I'm thinking Chicken pesto penne.
It's a busy week Lol yesterday was crock pot pork chops and gravy which was so yummy! Friday will be baked cajun chicken and Saturday we're eating out. Do I get bonus points for having it planned until then? Lol

It was my turn to cook for our small group. I made barbecue pork tenderloin, deviled eggs and baked beans. Other ppl brought Cole slaw, pasta salad and a really sugary dessert.

Today I have NO Idea! Yesterday we had noodles and pork chops, and I made hubby cook, I wasn't interested in food. Today I bought a bagel from Tim Hortons and while it was super tasty as always, right now I feel sick and have no interest in food type things at all. Thinking, maybe hot dogs and fries. Quick, easy, and very little dishes.

I'm feeling pretty good right now, I baked chicken in a cream of celery soup and sour cream mix, steamed broccoli and made instant mashed potatoes. It was a good balanced meal, which I feel like I don't get enough of.

We had fast food :-(. Three times I tried to take the chicken out to cook it, and three times it made me so nauseous that I put it back in the fridge. I'm planning to have DH cook it for me tomorrow morning and then I can put the rest of the casserole together, and it will be ready to pop in the oven for dinner. That's the plan right now, anyway.

Mmmm... that foccacia bread sounds wonderful! I have a new foccacia recipe that I've been wanting to try... one of these days I'll get around to it!

I finally got the chicken and stuffing casserole made that I've been trying to make all week. So that's what's for dinner tonight- along with some salad. And the best part is, it's great as leftovers!

I planned out ALMOST my entire week of meals yesterday and was able to shop for everything last night after work(plus a few extra's). It works out so much better money wise in the long run, because I got to the store ONCE and get everything I need rather than 2-3 times during the week. I also sometimes forget until Monday to meal plan, but I am TRYING to be better.

Here is the menu for this week:

Monday-
burgers(it's going to be 82 today, so what a perfect day to grill)
potato salad(homemade)
sauteed zucchini and onions

Tuesday-
Turkey
stuffing(homemade)
sweet potato casserole
(some sort of veggie, prob corn)

I'll cut up some of the turkey for turkey wraps during the week(stuffed with spinach, carrots, cheese and avacado with roasted sesame ginger dressing)

Weds-
Leftover day(DH will love this. Leftover turkey??? Yes please)

Thurs-
Meat loaf
salad
red onion potatoes(basically I cut up red potatoes and mix it with dry onion soup mix and a little oil and bake it in the oven)

Fri-
The only undecided day. I work in the evening so DH will prob do leftovers again. Sad Sad

Sat-
Naturalization party. My SIL and BIL are becoming US citizens Weds, so Sat we party with Steaks, noodles/rice(typical Chinese staple...lol) green bean casserole, veggies, and I am making snickers salad.

Who's coming for dinner?

I do have to meal plan so definitely looking over this thread!

I was going to do garlic pork chops and mashed potatoes, but the chops are still frozen (have to keep them hidden from the cats when defrosting)- so I might go super lazy and have the kids make themselves Emeril's tuna melts. They really love his recipe and it's pretty simple.

I have no ideas for tonight. If I'd thought of it sooner, I would have taken something out of the freezer, but I will just have to get creative.

It depends on if DH is here or not... if not, I'm going to make myself the leftover steak from the other day, with some garlic pasta and green beans. If he is here, I'm going to make some shrimp and broccoli alfredo pasta, with a salad. He probably won't be here tho, so I'll save the shrimpy stuff for tomorrow.

mmm Guinness gravy sounds yummy! Tonight we had beans on toast with a fried egg - well *I* had Chick Fil A on my way to work lol But that's what the kids had. Two of our littles are sick with fevers right now, so were keeping it simple.

I love this thread! Anytime I need inspiration for dinner, I can come here!

Tonight we are doing turkey burgers with arugula aioli and carmelized onions and hot crash potatoes (another pioneerwoman.com recipe - delicious!)

The one new year's resolution I think I have EVER kept has been to do meal planning and shop once a week. It has made a HUGE difference, especially after I went back to work!

Now we are part of a farm share too, so I can look up online what fruits and veggies we are getting (shipments every 2 weeks) and plan around that. Now if only I could keep my 3-vacuums-a-week resolution...

You all have me craving turkey breast now! I may have to pick one up next time I'm in the store Lol
My kids had fish sticks and green beans....I'll probably have something super unhealthy after they are in bed. I really need to meal plan...at least I got the grocery shopping done. Sunday we're having a burrito casserole...that's pretty much the only night I have planned in the next week Blum 3

I'm doing chicken strip casserole tonight (chicken breast over rice w/ powdered ranch dressing). It is one of my DH's favorite from when he was a kid. Super easy. And a salad-baby greens, candied walnuts, strawberries, and feta w/ raspberry vinagarette - one of my favorites.

I think we need to at least put a shortened version of the recipe w/ each reply so we can copy. Some of your dinners sound so good, but no idea how to go about making it.

DH and DS1 had scouts tonight, so I made something quick...fish sticks, corn and mashed taters.

I made the shrimp and broccoli alfredo pasta today, and it was delicious... best part it didn't break my diabetic diet! I just sauteed the shrimp and broccoli with a little bit of butter, seasoned with garlic, salt and pepper, then added in the alfredo sauce. Poured it over some rotini pasta. Omnomnom!

I haven't participated in this thread yet because to be honest, just looking at descriptions of food for the last few weeks would have made me puke!
But now, I'm back on food yay! Last night we had slow cooker beef stew and dumplings...one of my favourites. We do a lot of slow cooker meals here because I'm usually out of the house on the run all day.
Tonight we're having mac and cheese - I make it from scratch and put lots of veggies in it, so it's more like a pasta casserole. It's one of the few things that DD always wants!

Amanda I LOVE cooking with my crock pot. I've found alot of great recipes through the girl who does the crockpot 365 blog: http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/

Here's tonight's dinner: http://www.pauladeen.com/index.php/recipes/view2/brookes_homemade_meatloaf/

I'll pair it with onion soup mix potatoes(red potatoes cut, mix with 1/3 c oil and 1 pkg dry onion soup mix. bake for 35 mins at 400 degrees) and a salad
