Whoa seriously? That's alot of food.

One of the ministries at my church is a group of women who provide meals 3 days a week for families with new babies. I was contacted earlier this week to see if we would like to receive meals. I was apprehensive at first because I live 25 mins from church (also my work) and didnt want anyone to have to drive that far out of their way, but the co-chair encouraged us to accept the help(she's about to become the mom of her 4th child as well.

She then told me this ministry provides 3 meals a week for....6 WEEKS!!!! HOLY TONS OF FOOD BATMAN!!!! Add to that, the meals DH's church members are asking to bring.

I may have to invite Erin(bamsmom) over for dinner a couple times. hahaha.

Nice!

Our church meal ministry provides meals twice a week for 2 weeks! Between the meals, leftovers from the meals, and eating out once (when DH's sister was in town), we have not cooked once since the baby was born!

Sounds like you are set for awhile!

That is super cool!!!

I never experienced stuff like this going on when I was back east, but it's an AMAZING community out here that does the same thing, without even having a ministry. Just a bunch of mom's send out e-mails and organize their stuff and the next thing you know is someone is bringing by food daily.

We had a family with 10 kids here whose 2 year old died from meningitis almost 2 years ago now.... Imagine a family of over 10, and people brought them meals daily and other groceries for at LEAST a month. It was so incredibly amazing to see everyone pulling together to do that.

Score! Our church does meals a few times a week for a few weeks, everyone signs up for a day to bring a meal. I'm not sure how it will go for me, for one b/c dd has severe food allergies and for two b/c we are having a huge baby boom (one lady is due in a couple days, another is at 33 weeks having twins and is on hospital bedrest, most either just had a baby in the summer or are in their second trimester). I think we currently have between 20 and 25 ladies that are pregnant, in a church of 300 members.

That is a lot of food! Our church does something similar- 3 meals a week, but for two weeks, not six! What an awesome ministry! Enjoy it!

That is awesome. I love when people come together during times like this. When my MIL was sick and in and out of the hospital when she had pancreatic cancer, my FIL and BIL's churches were amazing with meals and support.

Come on over. LOL I'm not sure really how many meals there will be since like I said we're a bit of a drive for most people. But I think it is sweet that they are willing to help like this. I asked to be added to the ministry. Sounds like they have a great group of ladies who are part of it, but i love to cook/bake so I might as well help, plus being a church staff member, I hear of who is having a baby pretty quickly and sometimes more often than the ministry itself(which is odd, you'd think the church office would be able to tell them who is having a baby, but with over 1200 registered families, it's hard to know)

Wow! That is great... our church put together four meals for us. We just threw them in the freezer and have had 2 of them so far. I had another friend bring over one full meal and 2 partial meals... so we have been good this week so far, not having to cook too much. But, my DH really enjoys cooking... so he has thrown a few things together since he has been home all week. It's great to see church people/community people pitching in to help each other out. That is wonderful! We received more meals than gifts this time and it was so appreciated!

That's awesome. I'll have my mom and MIL here the first few weeks so we're set there, and after that I have enough food in the freezer for about two weeks. That should get us by for a bit I hope!
