wide awake

Does your LO have periods of time where he/she is WIDE awake?? I have nursed him, swaddled him, rocked him, etc and he is wide awake. He seems like he wants something but I don't know what! I know he is tired but just won't settle. We are going on 2 hours now.

CJ likes to do that around four in the morning, it's awesome, lol. He tends tohave very alert periods in the middle of the night, where he us just awake. Last night I was up with him for over an hour before Chris took him so I could pump. I think it's normal, I just wish he would that during the day instead.

Oh yes! It seems like shes awake now a lot more often. Sometimes it's a quiet awake and sometimes she's screaming unconsolably.

Chloe does, multiple times a day. Usually at 7 pm is her longest which she'll go to 10 pm.

Yup, he usually has 2 periods of at least 2 hours where he is just awake. Usually at 11/12(lunch time) and again at 6/7(dinner time). That is where we take the time to play and take him outside, I sling him and he likes that a lot, he likes to just look around. He will spend time in his crib looking at his toys and mobile and sometimes get a bath.

He has been doing this for a week and he is 3w5d old, he was 3 weeks early... so he basically started doing this when he should have been born. Before that he slept non-stop and it worried me a little, but the doctor said that is normal of preemies.

He just has his days and nights mixed up right now, he will adjust but if you wanted to try to help him adjust you could try waking him more often in the day and doing things to keep him awake. If you aren't bothered by it though, you can just wait until it fixes itself in a few weeks.

Yup. Ronan is usually wide awake and happy for several hours in the morning, then takes a long nap midday or early afternoon. He usually has another long stretch of awake time in the late afternoon/evening, and if he's going to be fussy, that tends to be the time he chooses. We've been pretty lucky at night. He occasionally has a night when he wants to be awake at 2am or something, but mostly he just eats and goes back to sleep. Speaking of which... I just finished feeding him and he is snoozing on my chest, so I'm going to put him down and go back to bed myself!

Kendra gets like this alot too. The only one that bothers us is the 2:30am one. By the time she settles down there is no point for us to even try to go back to sleep as we have to be up at 5am to get ready for work. i miss maternity leave LOL

My lo who is 5.5wks now has two awake times. The first one is around 9 or 10am and we usually play for about an hour after eating. The second one is the evening and he usually gets fussy during this one. Im trying to bathe him during this one because it settles him down. He is also usually awake for about 30mins after eating at each nightime feeding.

She will stay awake a couple hours in the morning (probably b/c she is already having long stretches of sleep at night) and in the evening, but she is very fussy in the evening.

Isaiah is awake quite often now, but he is also only about a week away from 2 months (he's 7 weeks). So that's pretty much to be expected at this age.
