Working Out!!

Has anyone started back at the gym yet? I am 2 weeks postpartum and I decided to go to the gym today. I am a little nervous because I don't want to stop my body from healing, but I also don't want to hold onto this baby weight. I gained 60lbs from my first son, and I was never able to lose the last 13lbs. This time I only gained 37, and I have been able to get rid of everything but 9lbs. I am also breast feeding...so I am really hoping that helps in the weight loss department. I anyone has any good weight loss tips...you can throw them my way Blum 3 I really want to feel good about myself again!!!!

I gained 39 this time (+10 from my m/c). With my first I gained 54 lbs and easily lost it. This time I'm struggling more. As long as I'm eating well , I'm ok and can loose 2 lbs/week. However, I eat more when stressed and tired and I'm definately stressed and tired. I have a lot going on in life right now as I'm still trying to organize and get things done related to our move to another country in June. We also have visitors coming next weekend.

I'm not worried too much about working out right now because I don't feel I can fit it in right now. I think I should be caught up as much as I can be by the time our company goes so that is my goal to start regular exercising again.

I work out from home because I don't feel like I have time to go to the gym although I would love to start swimming again. I had originally planned to go and leave my kids in the daycare but I'm really nervous about leaving DD2 at the daycare because of the whole preemie thing.

When I did Jillian Michaels' 30 day Shred, I had good results last time because I found it was short enough I didn't make an excuse not to do it but challenging enough I saw results. Generally I find diet drops the weight and exercise tightens it up.

I lost the 18 lbs in the first 2 weeks. Since then, I fluxuated +/-2 lbs for 6 weeks. Now I'm trying to pull myself together and am finally past that so hopefully i can keep going from here!

I won't start back to the gym until I'm six weeks postpartum, for two reasons: 1. I don't get the okay from my midwife to exercise until then, and 2. I can't put DS in the nursery at the gym until he's six weeks, so I couldn't go anyway! But I am SO looking forward to getting back in the gym!!!

In the meantime, I'm putting the kids in the stroller and taking walks around the neighborhood. I figure it's not too strenuous, but it's better than nothing! Also it gets us out of the house and gives the kids something else to look at.

With DD, I gained about 33 lbs and it took FOREVER to lose the weight... at least it felt that way. It actually took 10 months, and that was with me going to the gym 4-5 days a week, working out hard, and eating really well. This time I gained 31 lbs, and I've already lost most of it in 3 weeks... only 8 lbs to go. I have no idea why it's so different this time, except that DS eats a TON more than DD did.

I also recommend the 30 day shred. I did that on days when I couldn't make it to the gym after I had DD (and sometimes I'd do that AND go to the gym... I was desperate). I love that it's short, because goodness knows that with little kids you don't have a huge amount of time to put into it. But it's a really good workout and you definitely get results.

I'm waiting until the 6 week mark this time around. I started out too soon after DS was born and it really took a toll on my healing. my bleeding lasted forever and only got worse every time I worked out. I gained 40lbs this time around and still have 11 left to go after all of the fluid loss etc. I figure I can hold on to the 11 lbs for a few weeks Wink

And breastfeeding can burn an extra 500-800 calories a day!

So I have a Jillian Wii game... and I had used it once after having Daniel. I couldn't figure out how to select the program. I wanted to do the 30 day shred and I thought I had programmed it for that and I started and after 15 minutes or so I had to pause it to change a diaper and the virtual Jillian yelled and me and told me that there is no pausing....... I got frustrated with it and tired it again later and it kept going and going. I had been on it for 45 minutes and it was still going... I have no clue how long it was gonna go. I haven't used it since, but I was gonna try.

When we get back from Montana, I'm getting a gym membership and I'm going. I'm gonna have Evie in her car seat and sitting on the ground next to the machine I'm working on and then I will take her to the nursery before taking a shower (that is if they'll take her). I NEED to shower after a work out, so I will have to check the age qualification before getting the membership. I am unable to shower at home (unless DH is there) because Daniel thinks he's helping when she cries. It's just not safe.

I didn't work out before baby so I probably will not start now!

I only gained 22 pounds and it is gone already. I am hoping day today activities will help firm up the lab though.

Janelle do you have something you can strap her in and bring into the bathroom with you? I'd never be able to shower if I had to wait for dh to be home Lol so I bring Isaiah into the bathroom with me and buckle him into his bouncer, that way I can keep an eye on him and make sure the big kids can't get to him.
We're rural so no gym for me to join. I do videos at home, my favorite are the Lindsay Brin DVDs, I have the Postpartum Bootcamp from last time around that I plan on using and I used her pregnancy series for most of my pregnancy. I haven't started with an actual workout yet, I'm really wanting to but I'm still spotting and I really don't want it to pick back up! I was hoping to wait until I was completely done with the bleeding to start but we'll see. I have my pp appointment with my midwife on Monday and if I get the okay then I'm going to go for it.
I feel really gross Sad I gained about 35lbs and only lost about 14 of it (as of 1 week ago, but to be honest I doubt I've lost much if anything in the last week) I lost the weight after my first two super easy, simply breastfeeding by the time I went to my postpartum checkup. It was a little harder with my 3rd, I think I still had 5lbs to lose 6 weeks pp but my stomach was in much better shape than this time around. It's so weird because I gained almost 50 with my first, about 40 with my second, and about 30 with my third....so it's not like I gained a ton and this is the first pregnancy where I consistently worked out the entire pregnancy (until the end when I started having issues). I'm not really too focused on the weight, but just how I look is pretty depressing to me at the moment. Not helped by the fact that I'm starving all the time now and I don't want to risk my milk supply so I refuse to diet until he's much older.

That's awfully soon to start working out, have you cleared it with your care provider?

Im on restriction until 8 weeks postpartum due to the csection.

but, Im already 5 lbs under my prepregnancy weight (and under 200 for the first time since Brayden was about 6 months old!)

I do have a bouncer I can strap her in, but it BARELY fits in out tiny bathroom and Daniel is not safe to leave unattended, either, so I'd at least have to wait until big brother is home from school, but then I have to help him do his homework and figure out dinner stuff, etc. It's just less stress to wait until just before I go to bed when the boys are down and quiet and DH can watch Evie.

I bought Lindsay's 2nd Trimester, 3rd Trimester and Postpartum Bootcamp when I hit the 2nd Trimester. I got to do the Yoga exercise from the 2nd Tri DVD with a friend of mine, and then my Xbox started overheating and hasn't worked since. That was our ONLY dvd player. But as my husband pointed out to me just this last weekend, our laptop plays DVD's and can be plugged in and set up in the living room just below the TV. So I no longer feel like I wasted money on the DVD's. It just sucks that I didn't realize this sooner or I'd have been using the 2nd and 3rd Tri dvd's.

OB didn't want me to start working out until 6 wks which I just passed. I will probably wait until I go back to work in a few wks. I've lost all of the weight I gained pretty much but I just have the baby belly still.
