WWYD: Job Interview.

I just received a call for a job interview, it's on the same base that I work at just in a different office. Do I tell them I am expecting? What do I wear? The interview is next week.

at this point, i dont think you will be able to hide the fact that your expecting. Dress like you would any other interview, cept this time you have to get maternity clothing. YUCK!! i work in an office on a base, not too dressy not to casual, but for an interview you wanna look GOOD mamma! What base do you work on?? If i remember your out west, right?? i work on Ft. Indiantown Gap. GOOD LUCK!!

I wouldn't necessarily tell them you are expecting, but I agree, I don't think you can really hid it at this point. I agree, I would dress like you would for any other interview.

Im in The Poconos, here we for the most part are business casual. Pants wise I have Dockers type in black and khaki or Capri pants in the same. I am thinking Capri pants are too casual but the black might work. ugh. I really want this job. I just hope being PG isnt going to affect my chances of getting the job.

I personally wouldn't bring it up. I would wait until you recieved a call offering the job before I mentioned it. Good luck!!

well, you aren't too far away from me! Smile

i would go with the Docker pants in black and avoid wearing the capris to an interview. Match it with a nice shirt of some short and pumps or something and you should be good to go. i am actually looking for comfy capris to wear to work, black pants are not gonna cut this summer. Good luck and please tell us how it goes!

I agree with the others go with the black pants and don't say anything about being pg. They'll say something to you, like ask when ur due if it is a concern. As far as hiding it, I can't remember how big you are, I know I can still easily hide it thou I'm not big at all at this point so you might be able to do that

I think the interview went pretty well, the Interviewer is a grad from the same college that I graduated from. I didn't tell them I was pg. I figure if I get it then I will tell them. Thanks ladies.

I obviously didn't make it to this thread in time, but I was also going to suggest not mentioning it until later in the hiring process. I think we're at the stage now where people who know us can probably see a difference in our shape, but people meeting us for the first time wouldn't dare ask if we were pregnant.

Anyway, glad the interview went well! When will you hear something back?

By the end of next week I will find out if I got the job or not. I was one of the 1st interviews for the position. Not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing.

They can't not hire you for being pregnant. That would be discrimination. They could get in BIG trouble for that. They can't ask and you don't have to tell. If I were you, wait until you are hired and then make them aware ASAP, but also let them know of your plans as far as maternity leave. That is my 2 cents.

Good Luck!!!
