Breast Pump ? (lurker)

Hello ladies! I've been lurking around your board watching all of the babies being born (and waiting for my niece to come)...and I've noticed you've had some twins. My cousin just had twin girls last week and is having a hard time breastfeeding--she had terrible nurses at the hospital and not enough help breastfeeing/they made her use the breast shield unnecessarily and babies aren't wanting to nurse so well. Anyway, she is wondering what breast pump to buy--she needs an electric, double pump...any suggestions??? Thanks in advance for the help! Good luck to you all and congrats on your babies!

I bought the Medela Freestyle with my first and I love it. It has gotten me through 2 kiddos so far and I plan on charging it up soon for this one. I work full time and have gone back to work at 8 weeks with the first two, so I pumped between 3 - 5 times a day Monday thru Friday for almost a full year. It is handsfree so you can somewhat do other things while pumping (jumping jacks are not recommended) and it has a rechargable battery so you are not tethered to an outlet or even to a bag. The only downside it that it is close to $400. But again, it has made it through 2 years of pumping so far and I am going for year number 3 starting in a few weeks. So to me it was completely worth every penny.

I second the Medela, I didn't use it a lot with DS but it worked great when I needed it. My SIL is an exclusive pumper and it is what she uses too.

I used a Medala too. It was a hand me down Pump in Style I think. It was great, I went back to work at 4 months and had to pump at least 3x a day M-F and some on the weekends.

I pumped a full year on my Medela PIS. I plan to use it again for this kiddo. They are a lot of $ but some of the best $ I spent on baby supplies!

I wanted to add that I cannot reccomend an exact pump although I have heard good things about Medela, I do reccomend investing in a good pump. When my daughter was born, I bought a cheaper Evenflow pump and it didn't last long at all. The motor lost strength just a few weeks into it and I ended up throwing it in the garbage. If you are on a budget as I was when I bought the cheaper pump, most hospitals rent them although I have no idea what that costs.
