thoughts on water breaking? any experiences?

Ok ladies...DTD last night in hopes of working on getting this baby out...
woke up last night around 2am and decided to go pee since i was up anyways. I walked down our hall and saw that our living room light was on, which was weird since i knew it was off when i went to bed. I went back and got hubby to check things out but in those 10 seconds i started basically thinking i was peeing myself. I couldn't stop the fluid and it just started coming out. I had a pantyliner on but it was useless entirely with the amount that came out. I got to the bathroom a few seconds later and peed a LOT...or maybe had a lot more fluid come out. I've had no painful contractions of any sort, but no leaking since then. I've used the bathroom a few times since then too but still am able to stop mid-stream if i try so it's not like i have no control over my bladder or something. I know this may be TMI but hey...what in pregnancy isn't right?! lol. Anyways...should i chalk it up to a weak bladder last night or could it have been my water? Like i said no contractions yet and no more leaking....but i can't help but worry a little about what did come out.

Maybe what was coming out was remnants from DTD? That runs out for me. (sorry TMI). I 'think if you really had your water break it would be a continual leak.

I would call your doctor. Even though I would hate to be the person who thought their water broke and it was just pee, I would hate even more to ignore it when it really was my water breaking. Good luck!!

My water has always had to be broken by the doc. When my sister thought hers had broken the nurse told her to lay down for a half hour, if there was another gush when she got up it was her water. I guess it will continue to leak, even if it is slowly and pool in the vagina.

It's been my experience that it does continue to leak when your water has broken. Especially when getting up from laying or sitting. If you're not leaking anymore, I'd guess it was a combination of dtd leftovers, and baby pressure on your bladder. If you're concerned though, it never hurts to call the doc!

My friend has the same experience in March. She was concerned (1st baby) and called her doc. She had her just come in for a quick vaginal check. Turns out baby had just dropped down on her bladder and the sudden pressure she couldn't control. Her water broke 2 days later...

I think it's defiantly worth calling and checking on, it will give you peace of mind.

When my water broke with DD I was laying in bed but when I got up her head sealed it off and I didn't leak anymore.. so I really don't know but 4 hours later I had bad contractions starting and I knew I was in labor and then I got a bloody show.. because it wasn't that much water I didn't know at first that's what it was.. but the dr confirmed it was when he went to go and break my water.. LOL.. he's like well ur water already broke and I was like oh well that happened at 8:30pm ... eeek! It was enough where I changed my underware but it didn't get my pants and stuff wet like I thought it would have been way more I guess or something haha. After we dtd I have stuff come out tmi I know but it prob happens to all of us from gravity ...

Well I went to the doc at 930....hadn't had any leaking since 4am....cervix was closed still so I figure it was pee....now since 1030 i've gone through 2 pantyliners and am on a pad now now. The nurse said to call back right before they close and if its still leaking she'll call my doc. I just don't see how I could pee myself this much all day long. Having a closed cervix would explain the slow randomness of it though....we'll see!!

My water spontaneously broke with my 2nd at 36 weeks... around 4am. Like someone else said, his head did seal it off a bit when I stood up. I was already having contractions, but nothing more than what I had been since 28 weeks. We didnt get to the hospital till almost 6am. They did a swab and confirmed it was my water, but my cervix was still really high and hard to check.

My step sister went in at 32 weeks feeling like she was peeing herself (she had that happen at 35 weeks with her first, and it ended up being her water, so when it happened with her 2nd they had her go right in). They tested, and it was neg. for amnio. Then, they had her sit on a paper bag or something, and again, the fluid tested neg. for amnio. They kept her over night to monitor, and planned on sending her home the next day. The next morning she woke up feeling like she had to poop, but, it turned out that my niece was crowning.

This was my experience:

With DD, I went to bed feeling a little off but I'd been having contractions forever and already experienced two preterm l&d stays so I didn't think anything of it. I woke up around 3:45 am to DH's work alarm, went to the bathroom and then felt wet like I'd just peed myself when I was washing my hands. Ignored it and told DH to go to work. Changed PJ pants, sat at the computer and googled stuff about water breaking just to be sure, stood up and had two huge gushes of water. Other then that it was really slow/inconsistent so maybe her head was in the way.

As the pp said, it can't hurt to get checked out if you're unsure. GL!

With my first, I had 2 big gushes an hour apart and no other liquid. It was like dropping a gallon of milk and there was no mistake what it was.

With my second, it leaked and felt like I was releasing discharge every couple minutes. I was only 33 weeks so I didn't think or want it to be my water. I waited an hour but the leaky feeling didn't stop. In the 30 minute drive to the hospital, I'd soaked through a pad and my shorts so I knew it was my water before they checked me.

Good luck!
