OK ladies so here is the deal. I have been having BH since 13 weeks with this LO, never had them with my 1st and started at 18 weeks with my 2nd. I have learned that when I tell the Dr that I do have contractions everyday he checks me so I have stopped telling him. I hate being checked. Never in any of my births have I been dilated or effaced. With 1st I had appt Friday no dilation and gave birth Monday cause LO broke my water at 38 weeks 6 days. On 2nd one she was five days late and they induced once again no dilation and no signs of labor. Am I just a bad mom or does anyone else try to avoid getting checked? Which of course he checked me last week and no dilation and cervix is long just like with my others but this week I said everything is fine just so I wouldn't be checked. Just tired of getting checked for nothing....
I don't think so. As long as your not having any serious signs, it's not going to change anything anyway. I've always tired to avoid any unnecessary exams etc. as long as I wasn't having signs of something being wrong. Besides we are going to be poked and prodded plenty soon enough right?
No, who wants to have exams all the time. I haven't told my doctor about the BH. They happen so often and nothing has changed I just don't see the point. Like you I have had them just about the whole pregnancy only now they are more frequent.
Its just frustrating cause I would like to be able to tell him yes I'm having BH but that's normal without him being like OK let's check you. I know it procedure and all but come on if I feel something is wrong or has changed I would tell him. I guess it doesn't help that I also go to the appointments with my 2 year old and don't feel like she should have to be there while he checks me. Just a little vent ladies. Thanks for not making me feel like I'm the only one who avoids being checked!
I never had an internal exam with A&A. My OB didn't want to run the risk of triggering labor with it. We did have u/s nearly every appt though, and they checked it that way then.
This go around, I've only had one exam, and that was the one I had on Friday. I've been telling her that I have been having BH on a regular/ nearly daily basis, but she's never wanted to check.... she says it's normal and unless I'm having 6 or more an hr, she's not concerned.
Perhaps my dr is just more laid back than others, but it does seem unnecessary if they aren't strong, or coming in short, regular intervals..
I would be exactly the same. You could still tell him, but refuse the exam?
