Some advice for a Friend please?

A friend of mine had an ultrasound today, and the ultrasound tech said rather harshly, "Well, guess you had a miscarriage" after she didnt find the baby. My friend is about 6 weeks, just the same as I was when i had my ultrasound. My baby could not be seen then as it was possibly to soon, and I feel that this is the case with her. She hasn't had another blood test to confirm her beta levels or progesterone, so could the ultrasound tech be wrong and just rude?

My colleague had the same thing happen to her. I'm not sure how far along she was but she went to the ER for some reason and the tech there said the same thing. Her blood tests showed that she was still pregnant.

You friend must definitely have another blood test to check her beta and progesterone levels.

Thank you Roxie, I'll let her know. It sounded wrong and extremely rude to me.

I'm surprised the tech even said anything. I would be filing a complaint! That is just so uncalled for.

I told her to speak to her doctor about it. And if he doesn't take her seriously, I gave her my ob's name and number. I would be furious if something like that happened.

I would file a complaint to as it is against protocol for a tech to say anything as they are not qualified to say anything. It could be too soon. What a rude insensitive person the tech is!

I've never had an u/s tech, but my very first pregnancy I went in to hear the levels of my 2nd beta and the OB was like... You're miscarrying. (I started to cry, even though I pretty much knew) and she looked at me like...omg, WHY are you crying? She said...get yourself together. And she left!!

So, point of my story here is: She needs to go elsewhere if she's being treated like that ALREADY. I have never gone back to that OB. I have friends that think she's amazing, but with my experience? Nope. I drive 45 minutes to someone else just because of the way I was treated.

Hey Maedae, what happened with your friend? Did she go see someone else?

Oh, I hate to hear that. I hope she finds inner strength soon, and pray she will soon have a sticky bean.
