I'm Erin and I turned 40 this year. My DH is Stephen and we met through Match.com in April 2003. By April 2004 we were married. We tried for over a year to get pregnant and in September 2005 we found out that we were expecting our first. My pregnancy was fairly normal - except for 2 infections early in the pregnancy. I ended up getting my first good u/s around 24 weeks. It was there we found out our baby "girl" which we had named Emily had cysts in her kidneys. The tech tried to pinpoint why there were cysts and ended up getting the perinatologist involved. They spent a lot of time looking to find out there was not only the issue with the kidneys - but also with her heart. Needless to say the rest of the pregnancy was filled with appointments and worries. It was at that time we first heard about Trisomy. After the amnio we found out it was not a chromosome issue. Emily was born in May 2006 and at 8 days old she had her first open heart surgery. We spent our first 3 weeks in hospitals. It was during her stint in the hospital when we first heard of VATER/VACTREL association. According to the geneticist, an infection early in the pregnancy caused these issues. For Emily she has the following conditions: 1) Pulmonary Atresia/Tetrology of Fallot (pulmonary artery didn't form correctly at the heart) 2) Cystic Kidneys (she basically has 2/3's of a working kidney) 3) Congenital Scoliosis (9 vertebrae didn't form correctly). We've had a lot of surgeries, cath procedures and appointments - but I can say right now she's 3 and doing well.

After that, we were ready for another pregnancy. I unfortunately had an early m/c in Jan 08. Then work got in the way. So in Oct 2008, color me surprised when I found out I was pregnant again with baby #2. The joke was not who the father was - but the mother as I hadn't been around due to traveling a lot that summer. That pregnancy early on was filled with all sorts of issues. I was diagnosed with placenta previa. So basically, that meant "pelvic" rest. By Christmas that had cleared up, but in January with the quad screen we had a positive for Trisomy 18. We had another amnio and it confirmed that diagnosis. For those that have never heard of Trisomy 18, it's called Edward's Syndrome. There are a multitude of health issues and developmental issues that these babies have. A good percentage die in utero, another good percentage are stillborn and a slight percentage make it month or a year from birth. We again had named a girl - Sarah and we carried her to term. I the middle of things, I moved to another OB office that was closer to work and a hospital that had a level III NICU. They had also been through families going through this. All I can say is God works in mysterious ways. It was the best place for us. We knew Sarah had a heart issue and a cleft palate/lip. I was all set to fight for her surgery for her heart until Emily's cardiologist explained what T-18 really was. These children have the health issues and developmental issues (Like Downs (t-21)) but they also have issues with swallowing and breathing. Any surgeries they have, figure it will take even longer for recovery because of these delays. It was at that point, we knew we wouldn't take drastic measures for her. I then had another complication with the pregnancy - extra amnio fluid. By 35 weeks I was measuring 50 and the fluid had started compromising the cord - so they decided it was time for us to meet her. I had no bag packed and luckily my MIL had showed up early to take care of Em. I was also lucky to have my little camera in my purse - otherwise we wouldn't have had pictures. I ended up having 4 liters of fluid from my little girl. That was due to her esophagus not attaching to her stomach. So we knew it was just a matter of time. I had given her milestones, not to be born on her sister's bday or her daddy's birthday and wait until we had someone to watch Emily. Em's bday is May 16, DH's the 19th and Sarah was born on the 22nd. After she was born, I told her I wanted her to meet her sister and grandparents. She coded a few times, but brought herself back. On the second day around 4pm, my parents got there and got to hold her and tell her they loved her and within 10 minutes of them arriving - she died in my arms. I feel absolutely blessed to have had that time with that special soul.

We are now expecting #3. Dubbed MO (Microscopic Offspring). We really hope this pregnancy is uneventful and healthy including the baby this time.

I got my BFP on September 18, 2009.

Hello, my name is Lee-Anne and my husbands name is Trent!! I am pregnant with our 4th child. We are the proud parents of 2 beautiful daughters, Zoey Elizabeth(3) and Alayna Nicole(2), and one heavenly Angel. We lost our son Isaac James due to Potter's Syndrome back in April '09. Potter's Syndrome is a fatal fetal diagnosis, where the kidneys failed to form during the first month of growth. We chose to carry to term, and gave birth to Isaac at 36.5 weeks on April 25th, 2009. He lived for 1 hour and 19 minutes. You can read more about his story HERE.

Kelly's Space

I met my husband when we were freshman in high school. After four years of dating, we got married on Feb 8th, 2005. John joined the Army in 2004, so I moved from our homestate of Florida to Fort Campbell, KY. We lived there for 3 years and lost 4 babies in our attempts to TTC. Our first three losses were very early and by the time they really go confirmed they were gone. Our fourth loss, our son Philip Wade, was lost around the 13-14 week mark. We're not sure because his heart stopped. They did tested his chromosomes and everything was normal. I went through the worst year of depression in my life, I don't think it was we found out were pregnant with #5 that I attempted to snap out of it. I found out we were pregnant again on Dec 26th, 2007...to say it was a rollercoaster would be an understatement. We had been living in Germany for almost a year and Landstuhl actually had a team of doctors listen. By the time Sammie Lynn was born I had at least 40 tests run, 19 ultrasounds, wore a heart monitor, was hospitalized for a weekend...and on and on and on. Samantha "Sammie" Lynn was born on September 7th, 2008 at 9 lbs 14.5 oz and 21 inches tall. My husband was home with us until 19 weeks, then came home for her birth, and went back to Iraq until she was 9 and a half months old. We started trying again in July and immediately got pregnant with #6...we lost that baby on August 25th at around 6-7 weeks. While being followed by my OB for genetic testing we found out almost a month later we're pregnant again...#7. Because of the loss we don't know the exact due date, but around June 1st at this point. I'm sure it'll be long and hard, but so worth it. Our genetics testing should be back in about a month.

The Big Sister!

Sammie Lynn: 1 Year Old

Estimated Due Date: June 4th, 2010
