Hi there! DH & I just started TTC..... I called and left a message for my dr to call me Friday (so she could call me in some prenatal vitamins) but she didn't call until yesterday. So I could start taking them over the weekend I bought some over the counter ones at Wal-Mart for $9 (equate version of Women's One a Day Prenatal.... actually it is two different ones, a multi-vitamin and a DHA/EPA softgel). Well, today when I went to the pharmacy to pick up the ones my dr called in they were $56!!! Yes, that is WITH my insurance. They are Prenate Elite. I'm wondering if there is a huge difference in these and the OTC ones..... has anyone had any experience with either of these? I would much rather pay $9 a month than $56 if there isn't much of a difference. Thanks in advance for any advice!

yeah, I want to take that Prenate Elite or the Prenate with DHA but I'll make the choice once I'm actually pregnant. But for now taking something is better than nothing. My pharmacy just told me to have my doc write a script that has a generic form. Which I probably will do once my OTC is gone.

Yeah my doctor said they same thing, a regular over the counter multivitamin is just fine. I found these guidelines below if your interested, they helped me choose one.
