One thing I've found that has helped is that I am not trying to tackle the whole room all at once. If I go in intending to get the whole room clean, I get overwhelmed and distracted.

So instead, I do a few minutes here and there, just going in and picking up a few things at a time.

The room isn't presentable yet, and it still looks pretty bad, but I feel better knowing that I've put away some stuff, and knowing that I don't have to dedicate an entire day to cleaning. I can do it when Abby's eating lunch, or when she's playing in her room, or whatever.

I just FINALLY cleared the whole counter and put all the Christmas stuff away and I almost forgot to post the pic!

Our new fish tank is going here. Ryann is so excited although I think it will be another week or so before we get any fish.

check it out, I'm the last to post the "after" pictures from my own challenge!!!

We built a shelf above our exsisting built in (below the TV) and repainted everything - walls and trim. The new shelf allows us to hide our clutter - because let's face it, we are never going to be the clutter free people we want to be!

Plus we got a new hamper for my DH's clothes mound and a new bedspread - our old one was way too small... not that we ever make the make the bed anyway

And the once white walls now are a pleasant shade of tan.

Oh Bethy you are not last!!!! But your room looks great. I love the color palette (so relaxing!) and the beautiful wood tones. You made it look awesome.

I am finally dumping out my camera so here are the before pics from our nursery:

This is why I was keeping the door closed:

A nice box of diapers to compliment the "pooh" theme.

My changing table was a "dumping station":

The closet is messier than a diaper:

And a closeup of the "crap" on the floor:

OK here are my after pics!

First, the view from the hall is not great, but not quite as embarrassing. Yes, there is still the diaper box but now it contains some of the clothes that my friend lent me for Adam. We have been meaning to get together and go through my stuff, since we are both due with boys this time around, but she keeps flaking on me. So the box will be filled with even more stuff and removed as soon as we can get together!

The chair is functional again, and I decided to scrap the ugly u-nmatching, un-hemmed navy blue curtain. I will just have to buy a better one!

The changing table will need some more work before baby arrives, but at least now it only is only storing diapers.

And finally, the closet still looks like a messy closet, but now it only contains stuff that will be used in Baby's first year rather than leftovers from Adam's second year.

Beth and Susan, great work!

I have abandoned my messy room for the moment.. Now that school has started back up I don't have as much time. I will try to get a bit done here and there this week.. maybe soon it will be clean enough to be proud of, and I can post a pic for you!
