I'm very cautiously expecting after a m/c in June and lots of ups and downs with this pregnancy (I was told on 2 occasions that I miscarried).

BETAS
August 1 HCG=44. I found out I was pregnant while I was hospitalized for unrelated reasons
August 3 HCG=40, Progesterone only 9.5!. Most likely a vanishing twin if there was no lab error
August 11 HCG=840
August 13 HCG=2100
August 15 HCG=2400

ULTRASOUNDS
August 2nd: Too early to see anything

August 18th: We could see the baby with a heartbeat of 163 5 weeks, 5 days

September 17th: ER visit. Measuring exactly to its age at 10 weeks. Heart rate of 180 and moved around a lot

October 3rd: Nuchal Translucency and consultation with specialist due to positive Toxoplasmosis test

DS risk went down to 1/6000, heart rate 175, measuring 12 weeks (only 1 day behind). Second Toxoplasmosis test is negative!

October 21: ER visit. Active, healthy baby. Heart rate 171.

November 19th: Big u/s! It's a boy! Heart rate 156. Echogenic bowel detected, which is an indicator of Cystic Fibrosis.

February 11th: Heart rate 136. Bowel looks normal now. Measuring 30 weeks, 2 days (4 days behind). Estimated weight 3 pounds, 10 ounces. He's breech right now.

DUE DATE
April 16th, 2009

APPOINTMENTS
August 20th: First official prenatal appointment

October 1st: 12 week appointment. I heard the heartbeat on the doppler Blood pressure=110/70. Weight=-17 pounds

October 29th: 16 week appointment. Blood pressure=120/80. Weight=-5 pounds (-22 total). Heard the heartbeat. AFP screening blood test done. I got the results from the blood test done at the NT scan, and risk of DS and the others all went down to 1/<10,000.

November 26th: 20 week appointment. Blood pressure=114/75. Weight=+3 pounds (-19 total). Nice strong heartbeat. AFP screening negative. Measuring 22 weeks. The specialist from fetal testing recommended that I have genetic counseling and testing for Cystic Fibrosis.

December 3rd: Genetic counseling and Cystic Fibrosis carrier testing--December 10th-test results show that I am not a carrier for CF, though my fiance is. However, both of us must be carriers in order to pass on CF so .everything is probably just fine

December 23rd: 24 week appointment. Blood pressure=128/82. Weight=+8 pounds (-11 total). Measuring 25 weeks. Hemoglobin=8.6

January 21st: 28 week appointment. Blood pressure=118/80. Weight=+6 pounds (-5 total). Measuring 29 weeks. Glucose test and complete blood count done. Appointments are every 2 weeks now!

February 4th: 30 week appointment. Blood pressure=114/82. Weight=+6 pounds (+1 total). Measuring 30-31 weeks. Passed the glucose test! (103).

February 18th: 32 week appointment. Blood pressure=126/85. Weight=+3 pounds (+4 total).

March 4th: 34 week appointment. Blood pressure=124/82. Weight=+5 pounds (+9 total).

March 18th: 36 week appointment. Blood pressure=126/74. Weight=+2 pounds (+11 total). GBS test. Not dilated at all. Dr. is unsure of baby's position.

March 25th: 37 week appointment. Blood pressure=125/89. Weight=+3 pounds (+14 total). 1 cm dilated. Still unsure about baby's position, but the Dr. thinks she may have felt his head (so maybe head down now!).

April 1st: 38 week appointment. Blood pressure=138/86. Weight=+3 pounds (+17 pounds). Still 1 cm dilated. I was sent over to Labor & Delivery because of the high blood pressure. After monitoring BP and baby's heart rate for a couple of hours, I was sent home. Baby was doing fine and my BP was fine. I had an u/s to check fluid levels and baby's position, and he is definitely breech. Dr. did not want to schedule the c-section yet, but if he is still breech next week, I will probably have one then.

April 8th: Scheduled c-section, unless the baby flips over before then

BFP on August 25th after being 24 days late and getting 6 negatives!

Seth (DH) and I married July 12, 2008

We created a honeymoon bean!

How I told everyone! lol (Yeah, it's corny....I know! LOL)

DH and I at the shower for my last pregnancy.

Our pride and joy....hours after his birth.

With our birthday boy!

Finally took some belly pics! (My one and only)
25 weeks:

First Dr. appointment-September 16th: Went well....a bunch of paper work and history crap. It was pretty boring. Everything seemed pretty ok, except my blood pressure. Dr.'s not TOO worried about it, but scheduled me to see the high risk dr. anyway, just in case. She also ok'ed me trying for a VBAC! Unfortunately I'll have to be seen every 2 weeks for now until either my bp goes down or they decide to put me on medicine for it.

Second Dr. appointment-October 2nd: Nothing much to report. Blood pressure was still a little high, not too terrible though. Didn't get to hear the heartbeat as I was hoping, but maybe next time. Lost a pound too!

Third Dr. appointment-October 16: Still nothing to report. Not really gaining any weight, lost another half a pound. Not a bad sign though, actually good for me since I'm overweight to begin with. Got to hear the wonderful sound I'd been waiting for! BPM was in the 160's. I'm still thinking girl though!!! Blood pressure was much better this time. Here's hoping it'll stay down!

Fourth Dr. appointment-October 28: Blood pressure still doing great! Maybe I won't need bp med's afterall! Lost more weight though.....now down 8 pounds!!! Dr. said she's going to check me for anemia at my next appointment and of course they're still going to keep an eye on my bp, but she's not going to make me come every 2 weeks anymore! Had a scare though, the dr. wasn't able to hear the heartbeat with the doppler! Scared me to death, but she pulled out the ultrasound machine to check things out. Everything looked great! Baby was moving all around, I even felt a little kick while she was pressing down on my abdomen. She didn't tell me what the rate was, but said everything still looked good. She'll schedule me for the BIG ultrasound at my next appointment!

Fifth Dr. appointment-November 18: Blood pressure was pretty good. Still staying low and under control! At a stand still with my weight. Lost nothing else, but gained nothing either. Heart rate was in the 150's. Everything else looked great and no big worries right now. Scheduled my U/S for November 28th!

BIG U/S appointment-November 28: Everything looked great! Dr. seemed like he was in a huge rush and didn't really care. All measurments were right around where they should be....only a few days ahead of the due date. Dr. said he "thought" it was another boy....of course I didn't see anything, so I'm hoping to have another U/S sometime before the baby's born.

Sixth Dr. appointment-December 16: Most everything was ok. Complained of a lot of discharge so had an exam done. Found out I had BV again! Dr. said it probably never went away. Hopefully it'll go away this time around. Blood pressure still good, not the best, but good. Still no weight gain. Dr. is threatening if I don't gain anything by my next appointment she's going to put me on boost. YUCK!

Random appointment-January 2: Had some strange bleeding so I went to get checked again. Dr. did another exam and said the BV was gone but now I have a yeast infection! GREAT! More gross mucous crap and blood too. Now I have a cream medicine I have to put up in me at night. Hopefully the bleeding will stop soon!

Seventh Dr. appointment-January 8: Things went pretty well. BP was good and still no weight gain. Now I have to drink boost. YUCK! Not a lot of movement so I asked the dr. about it and she said it was most likely because of the infection. Heart rate was in the 150's and we could hear the baby moving while we listened for the heart beat. It sounded like bubbles! lol Still bleeding some, but not near as bad. Mucous is gone too. Talked with a high risk dr. today and she's not worried about anything at all! She says my bp has stayed normal and looks great and looking back at the u/s I had at 18 weeks the baby was growing normally, so she's not worried about me not gaining weight either. She still wants me to drink the boost just in case. We talked more about trying for a VBAC since she's the one I would likely have to see when the time comes and she has no problem letting me try as long as my bp stays down. She said I'll probably have another u/s at about 32 weeks to check the baby's measurments again! Yay! Can't wait to see my bean again. I'll be seen every 2 weeks now!

Random appointment-January 15: I was having lots of bleeding still so when I called my baby love nurse she said she was going to make me an appointment and wanted me to be seen again. When I went in the dr. checked my urine and came in to talk to me about my symptoms. She decided to check me out again and make sure no infections had come back or anything like that. Everything checked out fine, but since I'd been bleeding so long she wanted to send me for another ultrasound! Yay, I get to see my bean again!!!

2nd Ultrasound-January 15: The dr. was mainly looking at my placenta to make sure nothing was wrong with it to cause the bleeding. Everything looked great, baby was still measuring a little bigger than the due date. The girl that did the ultrasound this time was much nicer than the guy who did the first one! Made for a much more pleasant time. lol She looked at everything she needed to and said the placenta looked fine and so did everything else. She was also able to confirm the baby was most certainly another boy!

ER Visit-January 20: I tossed and turned all night long and didn't sleep well. I finally woke up around 5am and went to the bathroom. I was having sharp pains in my lower belly. They were pretty painful and I was in tears when I woke Seth up. I finally arrived at the hospital around 7am and they sent me up to labor and delivary triage. The nurses hooked me up to the monitors to see if I was contracting and to watch the baby's heartrate. Then a dr. came in to check my cervix.....I was already at 3cm dilated and 50% effaced!!!!! Not a good thing this early. They rushed around getting things together. They wanted to try to slow or stop the contractions so I wouldn't dilate any further. They also gave me the first of a set of steroid shots that would help mature the baby's lungs in case he was born that night. I was put in an ambulance and sent out to hospital close by that has a NICU. When I got there they sat me up on the monitor and watched me all day until the dr.'s decided it would be best to keep me for at least a week, maybe longer.

First movement felt on December 14th!

January 25, 2009 at 7:18am Braylen Lee Patterson came into the world. He weighed 2lbs 3oz and was 13in long! Pretty big for a 26 week preemie. He's absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way, just small and needs lots of TLC and prayers.

Minutes after his birth.

He looks great to be so tiny!

Shortly after the dr. took Braylen off his ventilator tube.

Holding our sweet boy for the first time!

The day my sweet boys eyes opened. (What a beautiful sight!)

My big boy on Valentine's Day-almost 3 weeks old

Growing up in front of my eyes! About 1 month old

Feeding tubes out!

A day I'll never forget! April 4th....coming home!

First encounter with big brother.

My 3 guys sitting together.

About 3 months old.....definitely come a long way!

Snoozing on mom's chest.

The 4 of us!
