Thumbs up Surprise! Baby #2 on its way...

So, here I am once again. Sooner than anticipated. My DH and I have been married a little over a year and our son will be a year next month. And I just found out a few weeks ago that I am pregnant with baby #2. Unreal. We are happy, to say the least... Timing is just off a few months.

We had our first prenatal appointment today. All is well. But, I am still pretty early. Only 7 weeks and 2 days. I knew I was early when I found out....

I was supposed to have a LEEP done on August 4th. I had intentionally scheduled the procedure so that I would have been off of my period for a few days before hand. Well, the closer it go to the day, I realized that I hadn't yet gone on my period. That is when I suspected I may be pregnant. As I said in my first journal... I'm never late. Maybe a day, but not a week. So after much arguing with the husband over things of varying significance, I took a test. And low and behold...that son of gun was positive. Very surprised.

We were certain that Alexander was a miracle... And well, now I guess we have another miracle on its way!

I was debating on whether or not to run another journal and remembered how comforting it was to be able to get my feelings down.

So far, things are good... Although unlike with the last pregnancy, I am suffering from occasional nausea and headaches. Nothing too terrible. The one thing I have been reminded of that I couldn't stand the most about being pregnant was the constant mood swings and overall loss of control over my emotions. It's pretty bad...

Let the fun begin!

So here I am at home, sick, today. I have a cold... Normally I would go ahead and go to work, but I since I can't take any meds for it, I need to see if I can rest it off. Otherwise, I'll be miserable all week.

Ironically, I was ill for about a week at the beginning of my last pregnancy (before I found out.) I think my immune system is compromised during the first weeks of pregnancy. I feel miserable.

Other than the cold, I'm actually doing okay. I've had a few more nausea spells, but nothing too bad. I started working out again, to try to keep the weight gain under control. I am already 15 lbs heavier than I was at the start of my last pregnancy. Trying not to go too overboard.

I'm debating on whether or not to post pregnancy progress pictures as I did before. Mainly for selfish reasons, because I'm not in the shape I was in before. But, I am curious to see the comparison between the 2 pregnancies. If I do, I will start at 12 weeks... We'll see!

So ashamed... I have been delinquent in posting here.

Needless to say, things have been hectic...and I have been busy.

Right now, I'm playing "single-mom" as my husband is away at a conference for work. I just put the baby down for the night and I should be eating, but decided to jump on here first.

I had my 16wk appointment yesterday. I am doing well. I've gained 2lbs since my last appointment, at 12weeks... (Really need to get back in the gym...NEXT WEEK.) My BP is under control and the baby's heart rate is 150bpm.

I decided to start taking a pictures of my progress... So here is the first @ 16weeks:

I hope to maintain my weight to some extent for a wedding in December in which I am a bridesmaid. I really need to fit into this dress!

Leonard has had an ephiphany... He doesn't want to find out the sex of the baby. Our anatomy ultrasound is scheduled for the 21st of November... Maybe I can convince him otherwise. Wish me luck!

So...getting a little better at writing. I actually thought I came back shortly after the 16 week appointment to write, but must have forgotten.

At any rate, things are going well. I started feeling the baby move very soon after my 16 week appointment. It was funny because I ran to my other blog to see when I actually felt Alexander move for the first time. It was about about 2 weeks later... (They say you usually feel the 2nd move sooner because you know what you're expecting to feel.)

So I fear that I'm going to be in just as much trouble with this one as with Alexander... (The movement got a little annoying last time...) It's moving all the time already. So... We'll see. Wish me luck.

Starting to show... Less Morning sickness. Things are really good.

It's a girl!!! Woo-HOO! So happy. I had the strongest feeling that it was a boy...but I was so very wrong:

Lia Grace's beautiful profile:

She has been really active... Just as much as Alexander, but she's sitting a lot lower, so it's even more uncomfortable. Other than that, I've been feeling pretty good. I have a 'bout with sickness once every month or so, but nothing too bad. I guess the most unforunate thing is that I'm really not "showing" like I would have anticipated and really just look like I gained weight. I want to look like I'm pregnant, not fat! Oh, well...

The stats: 194 lbs, BP 120/80... Baby's heart rate is 145bpm. Here I am at 20 weeks:

Alas, I have been HORRIBLE about posting in my journal this pregnancy, hopefully Lia will forgive me.

My last appointment was about 2 weeks ago... We are doing well. I had complaints of a pain (dull ache/cramp) running along the side of my abdomen, through my hip and into my leg. Pretty sure it wasn't BH contraction or otherwise because it lasted too long. I asked my OB about it and she explained to me that it was Round Ligament pain. I didn't have that with Alexander so wasn't quite sure if it were cause for concern. She told me it is from my uterus expanding... I remember thinking, "Hasn't it already been through this before???" Maybe Lia will be bigger...

Other than that, I had gained 7lbs since my last appointment (probably more since then,) and weighed in at 199.9 lbs! My BP was still pretty good considering... 120/70. I didn't get a heart rate on Lia, but it was fast and strong.

She's moving all over the place. I'd have to say far more active than Alexander. It will be an interesting last few months... I'm already uncomfortable and complaining from the constant kicking, punching and/or rolling around. I can even see it through my belly at this point... Going to start having her listen to music soon (I was waiting for my new MP3 player.)

Here is a pic of me at 27 weeks... (This will have to suffice for both 24 & 28 weeks...) Actually think I'm progressing very much like I was with Alexander.

29 weeks already? Almost done. We really can't
wait to meet her!

I'm doing pretty well. I had my 28 week appointment on Friday and will now
start going every 2 weeks. My BP is good and I only gained 4lbs since my
last appointment! (I was really concerned about this...) And I passed my
glucose test. Lia's heart rate was 140bpm...which was hard to get because
my OB had to reposition the monitor 3 times in less than 10 seconds because
she kept moving. Lia's definitely far more active than Alexander...which I
didn't think to be possible. I think her positioning is what makes it
worse...for the most part, she's lower than Alexander was... My doctor
said she was actually pretty high on Friday, though and that she's probably
trying to stretch out while she still can.

I'm starting to be uncomfortable and having trouble sleeping at night
already. (I have 6 pillows and a body pillow on my side of the bed...and
pretty much sleep sitting up.) I know I mentioned to some of you about my
problems with my pelvis... Well, that pain went away on it's own. My OB
thinks that Lia was just in a really bad position and may not necessarily
be what I had self-diagnosed...(mainly because it went away)...but she
wasn't totally ruling it out. I also have more sciatic nerve pain than
with Alexander. At times it's unbearable. Seems to be okay this week,
though...so far. My OB said I can take Tylenol when it's too much to
handle.

After much debate about whether or not to have the kiddies share a room,
Leonard and I decided to give up our office. We hope to be getting it
together soon... We already have moved our computer desks to other
locations in the house and hope to get painting and decorating soon.
Leonard thought of a Disney Princess theme, but everything I found seems
it's geared more towards toddlers. So, I was looking for something that
was more on the "newborn side"... Looks like it's going to be Pooh. Here
is the theme I picked out:

The plan is to decorate the walls the same as Alexander's...with the
characters blown up and painted, and her name on one of the walls.

So I had my 30 week appointment yesterday. After the pride I felt in only having gained 4 lbs in a month, I was disappointed to discover that I gained 7lbs in 2weeks. It was disappointment coupled with shock. Of all the times when I thought I wouldn't have gained as much because I was eating differently, turns out I gained the most.

Anyway, my BP was 114/66. Pretty good. Fetal heart rate was in the 140s again. I'm not sure what the fundal height was because she immediately comment on how big she was. At that point, she decided that she wanted to do a growth scan at my next appointment just to see how big she is actually getting.

I have a feeling she is bigger than Alexander was at this point. Mainly because of all of the growing pains I have been with her and the extreme uncomfortableness I feel all of the time.

Just as they say...my mood swings have returned as well. I'm more irritable than I was a couple of months ago.

Right now I am just getting tired of it all... Tired of working, tired of doing chores, tired of chasing after Alexander. If I could lay in bed all day... I would be content. Not necessairly saying I'm "wishing" for bed rest....but just for someone to tell me it's necessary for me to slow down.

9 weeks can't past soon enough...

Will post photo soon.

So, the DH, while traveling, missed out on a pretty cool ultrasound, (since she's pretty close to term...) The girl was moving around like crazy and although not in 3D, it was almost possible to make out facial features. When she started the ultrasound we had a full frontal view of her face. She actually looks a little like Alexander! Same nose and everything... It was so weird... By the time she got around to printing the pictures, she shifted (again) so we just got profile shots for the DH.

All around good news...

I actually LOST a 1 lb! I was so happy... (OB wasn't really. I said to
her excitingly, "Did you see I lost a lb?!" She said, "Well, I didn't want
you to LOOSE any weight...") Oh, well. I'm just really glad I didn't
gain anymore.

Lia is measuring at about a week to a week and a half ahead of herself.
(I'll be 33 weeks on Monday and she was measuring around 34 - 35 weeks on
pretty much all body parts.) My OB said her head was really big... But
that it was probably genetics. LOL! She also said that she looks great
and that her heart beat was strong and her lungs were developing well
because we could see her "taking breaths." Her head is down low and her
feet & knees are up high...which is where I feel most of the "movement."

My OB is scheduling my c-section for the last week in March/1st week in
April. So, she'll actually will be here a little early. I hope it's still in April though, since the hubby already got Lia's April stone in my Mother's Ring... lol
