On the 3rd day of our vacation, we woke to grey skies and flash flood warnings. Because the road to Big Bend would not have been fun in a flash flood, we decided to go in a different direction that day. We strolled around Marfa - a small town known for eclectic galleries. Unfortunately, Marfa seems tohave it's own set of rules and most places were closed the day we were there. We did have lunch at a fun little cafe with some of the freshest food I've ever enjoyed.
After mostly striking out at Marfa, we deciced to check out Fort Davis State Park. And we ended up having a WONDERFUL time! We got in a really nice hike in the Davis Mountains - not as strenuous as our hike at Big Bend, but fun even in the rain.
This was a view from about halway up:

And I manged to get in a few frames as well:
This is Logan and I as "normal"
But here he let me climb up on some rocks so I could be taller for one frame:
These little tricks are all I have left. :)
The last day of our vacation, we had to wind the 800+ miles back home. And like we did on the way out, we planned lots of little stops. One of those stops was in Boerne, TX to see another cave - the "Cave Without a Name." That place is SO FUN! It's probably the smallest of the caves we have visited in Texas, but it was one of the more "open" caves - the rooms were big with lots of different formations to keep us busy. We all had a great time at this cave and would go back in a heart beat. They have some hiking trails and sometimes hold concerts IN THE CAVE. I can't imagine what the ecoustics are like for that!
Anyway ... here are a few of my favorite snaps from the cave:
cave bacon - Logan took this one and I *love* it
this one is Logan's as well
We had a really great trip, despite the weather. And I am looking forward to our next adventure already. :D
