Age gap?

How do you ladies feel about age gaps? My sis and I are pretty close 1 year 11 months and we fought a lot as kids but close now. We also have very different personalities as well. DH finally gave a thumbs up for a spring 14 baby which would put DD and #2 about 3 to 3 1/2 years apart? Plus, DD is a December birthday so they would be 2 years apart in school. But then part of me starts thinking, well what about 2 1/2 years apart?

What are your experiences with age gaps between kids?

My sister and I are 2 years 2 months apart and we fought a LOT when we were growing up. We're really close now but only since we both left home. We also have very different personalities.

My DH and his sister are 20 months apart and they have always been close.

Maybe the fighting is a same-gender thing?

My BFF ended up with 3 LO's (#3 was a surprise): DS & DD#1 are 3 years 7 months apart which she found she was able to cope with. DD#1 & DD#2 are only 22 months apart and she found that plus working was really hard to cope with.

My two are 14 months apart. They fight every now and then, but for the most part they get along. Dealing with two that needed so much from me at the same time was tough though. The next one will be about 4 and a half years from the youngest. I am worried about how that will work out. LOL

My sister had her children (not purposely) 5 years apart (she has 3) and she says it's the perfect age gap. I am kind of glad because it means I still have a year haha.

Seriously though, I worry so much about what age gap will be between my children. I want another like now but we just can't yet Sad My sister is 11 years older than me and growing up, she wasn't that interested in me because she was doing things with her friends etc, however now we're really close. My brother is 8 years older and my Mum said he doted on me when I was little and we're still pretty close now.

We're shooting for between 3-4 years between 2 kids. I'm 4 years older than my brother and 7.5 years older than my sister. My brother & I fought constantly but I don't think it was because of our age gap and I still think we had a great relationship growing up. We're not so close now but that's because he has a schizo control freak girlfriend. My sister and I weren't so close growing up because I was so much older than her but we've been very close for about the past 10 years more so because we're both girls than anything. DH is the eldest of 5. The older 4 are each about 2 years apart and the youngest is 16 years younger than DH. They all got along fabulously growing up and are very close to this day.

I don't think age gap really matters unless its more than 7 years or so. More than that and they're not really kids at the same time. Less than 2-3 years and I'd probably go nuts. So we settled on 3-4 because we want to get this whole baby phase over with so we can take our kids backpacking before our knees give out. Smile

My sister and I are 2 years and 5 months apart and we fought like cats and dogs growing up. But very polar opposite personalities. DH and his sister are 12 months almost exactly, and have always been close. I think the same gender thing could be the issue with closer kiddos. I never really had a plan for the age gap, but hoping around 3-3 1/2 will be good. DS will be PT and into pre K. So I am thinking he will understand a little more than age 2.

We will start TTC in June 2013 so DS and next LO will be about 2 1/2 years apart at the least. I think that it will be better for my sanity that way. Smile

My kids will be 4 years apart. Can't wait too see how it goes!
But my oldest is in school so it will be easier on me during the day. Plus just one in diapers!!!
