December Chat Thread

Looks like I get to start this one!

Any one else looking forward to Christmas?

I love Christmas. Doesn't help that SO is such a scrooge that I double my efforts to enjoy it. Started my baking and decorating yesterday. Smile

I LOVE christmas. My DH is sounds a lot like your SO...he is such a scrooge. I too feel like I have to be extra jolly during the holidays to overcome his holiday grouchiness. We went christmas shopping last night and it was packed. He said "never again." I don't mind the crowds. But he gets overwhelmed. We are going to set up our tree tonight. Yay! I love christmas trees! I usually bake a lot during christmas, but I'm not sure I will have time this year. We have all these holiday parties with our new offices and DH's giant family, plus I scheduled my next arch exam for January...I've got to cram this month.

Vicky-What did you get your son for his birthday/christmas?

Love Christmas too! I'm done shopping for my kids, but still need DH, a work gift for a Yankee Swap and various other random gifts.

Just finished up DD's birthday party yesterday so I'm finally in the X-mas mood! Smile

I'm not a huge Christmas lover myself, but I like that it brings family together, and everyone seems happy! This year, we agreed to stockings only, but you can fit a lot of neat things in a stocking Wink Rules are made to be broken, right?

Im in school though and I have 4 papers to write by the end of december so Im really stressed about that Sad and I dont have much time to do fun christmas things. Although we did go to a breakfast with Santa at the firehall the other day. My DS loved it!

This time of year is so busy, work is insane and I have so much to do, and we shut down between Christmas and new year so I lose a week. It's starting to get really hot here, we hit the mid thirties today and it's just the start of summer.

I'd give anything to be at the start of summer. We just had our first snow here, and I forgot how much I dislike it!

so my body is really pissing me off Sad

backstory for those who don't remember, we were waiting until Jan to start TTC, I have a IUD in, was planning on getting that out Dec 22....well a few weeks ago found out my job is going away and I'll be unemployed the end of Jan, which made my DH think twice about TTC (he still hasn't said no, but we haven't talked about it for awhile)

ANYWAY

Tuesday I was super super SUPER nauseous, almost threw up in the morning

Tuesday night while I was teaching Zumba, I had HORRIBLE heartburn

this morning, super nauseous again, this time I threw up  and been nauseous on/off all day today

guess what that makes me think? BTW the only time I have ever ever EVER had heartburn, was while pregnant with DD

I have the IUD in, and my last period started the day after Thanksgiving........

why does my body think it's funny to do this to me? I think I just want to be pregnant so bad.........

Lesli you are not alone. I do the same thing. I convinced myself I might be preggers this month. We DTD 2 days before assumed ovulation (protected unfortunately). AF was due to arrive Monday. On Sunday I got brown spotting and then nothing. Then out of nowhere, yesterday (4 days after the spotting), I get horrible cramps but still no period. Later that day, I wiped and it was mostly CM with only a tiny bit of blood. Usually when I get AF, its heavy and thick and cramps all at once. But this time it never really got heavy. It's still light. I'm attributing it to age...haha. When I was younger, my periods were like clockwork and now they are so unpredictable. Not fun, especially when you are really wanting to be pregnant and think every little thing could be a symptom. Yesterday sucked. I didn't catch AF in time to take painkillers and spent 3 hours on a freezing bathroom floor at my office in fetal position from horrible cramps. I hate being a woman sometimes.

This thread has been slow this month! Are we all just trying to get Christmas done? Me....I'm just bummed...depressed....sad Sad I've got this don't give a sh!t attitude and it's actually really pissing me off, but I don't know how to change it...ya know? I still haven't cancelled my IUD appointment (next week) still hoping for a miracle to change dh's mind I guess

I have been busy with stuff for the last month every weekend and work is crazy and it looks like I'll be dealing with some things at work that will be difficult over the next few months.
I am sitting here waiting for it to get dark enough to take DS to see Christmas lights, one of the bad things about Christmas in summer, it's 6:30pm and it will probably be at least another hour before it's dark enough to go.

Holly_Anne618: I wish it would snow in NYC - this is my 3rd Christmas here and I'm still waiting for my first White one Biggrin

I absolutely LOVE Christmas time :santasmiley: Got the tree decorated and all lit up and the stockings hung (even tho we don't have a fireplace). DH is such a difficult person to buy for but his presents are hidden (but not yet wrapped). I even have stocking stuffers for him :bigblink:

Unfortunately I am used to having a huge Christmas with my parents, sister, BIL, nephew, niece, cousins & grandpa. And sometimes a few more Wink This is only the 2nd Christmas we're celebrating here in NYC, but this year I'm feeling super-excited about Christmas again. I'm going to make fruit minced pies, roast chicken, roast potatoes, the whole 9 yards

I don't even know what we are doing for Christmas, hopefully tonight I will know. My hubby will be working Christmas day so most of the day will be spent sitting around alone with DS, my Dad is visiting in the morning, then hubby will be home maybe around 3pm. If he is working boxing day my Mum will come down here on Christmas day for a late lunch and if he has boxing day off she will do Christmas lunch at her house on boxing day, so I might try to convince hubby to go up there after he finishes work

The Christmas season has been busy this year. We have SOOOO many family parties and I've been working so much, I'm just exhausted.

However, Lesli will be happy to know that I went to a Zumba class last night and it was so fun! The instructor made us wear reindeer antlers the whole time...lol. And it was a mix of latin and christmas music. Put me in the spirit! I think I will become a regular zumba-er!

My co-worker came back from maternity leave this week. She is working part time. It's interesting to see how she is dealing with pumping and working. She's a busy woman with all that. Nice to see that it is doable though. It's nice to have some help at work, we've been swamped and its going to be even busier in January.

Just got news that my friend had her baby boy today! This was her first, but it sounds like everything went pretty quickly, got to the hospital around 7AM with what she thought was just cramping. Turns out she was in labour, and gave birth at 2PM. He's about 3 weeks early, but they're both healthy.

Think this will fuel the baby fever or help keep it away for while? Lol

LOL! could go either way - depends on whether he's difficult and crying a lot, or cute and cooing! Wink j/k

I'm glad her labor went well and baby boy is doing well. 37 weeks isn't too early, most doctors consider it "term".

I just had someone I know from school have her baby yesterday, he is adorable. Hubby also has a friedn whose wife was due today, but no baby yet. This is going to put baby fever in overload.

Haha! So true. I always get super baby fever whenever I find out someone is pregnant. Then the fever dies down as soon as its born and they call me exhausted and complaining. Haha. But when my friends babies get to be around 6 months, the fever starts up again.

And Lesli, I took zumba when I lived in Los Angeles, but it was very different from this class. I like this one much more.

Christmas was rough this year. I need a vacation from my vacation. What I've gathered from this weekend is that once people turn 60+ years, they get a little weird. LOL. It was nice, just a bit more stressful than usual. Happy to be back at work!

Turns out I was SO wrong, he was only 34 weeks! He's still in the hospital, he still won't eat on his own. I can't imagine how hard it was for her to have to leave him there over the holidays.
