June Chat Thread

It's June! Who's still around? I know a lot of ladies are leaving for the TTC boards.

My little girl is sick with a cold so we were up all night last night. I'm very tired. It makes me want to not have another! Sad

I'm still checking in! I'm so nervous this week, probably part of the reason why I feel so ill. I can see how the stress level can build quickly for women and couples who are TTC, I'm officially in the TWW (or 10 day wait in my case), and I'm a wreck.

That's too bad that your little girl is sick, hopefully it passes quickly!

Jessica- when are you testing?
Mel- Hope she feels better soon!
Anyone doing any fun summer plans?
PS- I am still around. I cant believe its June already! My little man will be 2 next month. How does that happen?!?!?! Nothing is new here. I am kinda boring lately!

Thanks Jessica and Sara! She's doing a little better, at least she ate some food today and plenty of wet diapers so that's good!

Jessica - yeah, that stress is incredible isn't it! I actually really dislike TTC because it's too much anticipation!

Sara - glad someone else is here with me! Feels like everyone on the board is already JLIH or TTC!

We just booked a hotel in the Philly area so we can go to Sesame Place, the Philadelphia Zoo and Camden Aquarium in July! Very much looking forward to that!

DS's 3rd birthday party is in less than 2 weeks now. I have the planning done and most of the decorations made or purchased. We are doing a construction theme.

Yeah I am not going to TTC yet. still having a hard time bringing up the convo with DH.
AFM -No real summer plans so to speak. I took the week of tommys birthday off in July- but partly cuz my MIL and SIL will be here and I do not want them watching tommy without me- cuz yes they wuld assume they could watch him while we are at work. I think we might do the LA Zoo and the LB Aquarium that week. Hoping to get a few camping trips in but we havent planned anything yet.
I just got a bunch of decorations for Tommys birthday. We are doing the theme: Red, White and Two! So since its after the 4th I got alot of Red white and blue items. Do you have a theme going?

I'm still here, still trying to decide if i should just go for it on ttc this month or not. I saw a super adorable newborn today and i swear it made me ovulate. Seriously I have had snow white opks then suddently got a faint line this afternoon, so i am probably right on for predicted o date, it seems so late compared to before and i am concerned I may have too short a luteal phase now, or maybe just crazy cycles because I am still breastfeeding.

Sara - it's a Construction theme for the party. he's really into dump trucks, excavators and the like! The red, white and two theme sounds great!

Wendy - how long do you think your LP is? I'm still BFing and wasn't planning on stopping just to TTC. Maybe I should get OPKs?

Sara - I think I'll test this Sunday if AF doesn't show first. Looking back at my chart, I'd be super surprised if we missed O, so I'm hopeful, but trying to remind myself that it isn't always that simple.

Sounds like you ladies have some wonderful birthday plans in the mix! I love the themes!

We did construction last year for his 1st. i hit up the $1 section at Target they had tons of red, white and blue things.
Good luck Jessica! Sunday isnt very far away!!! Hope u caught that eggy!
Wendy I tested tonight on my OPK and faint line as well and two days ago it was white as can be. But again using the OPKs to avoid.

I think I am in a funk. Today I put on my head phones and kept to myself at work most of the day. I internalizing alot of things and need to snap out of it. But on a good note DS STTN all night last night. it was so nice. I feel that means tonight he will be back to waking up. lol!

I am not sure, I went back to a snow white opk tonight, but it may be because it is an old one and likely out of date. No temp shifts, though I also don't get unbroken sleep so it's likely temping won't be accurate for me. I am not weaning just to ttc, DS is way too much of a booby boy and even though i said I would go until age two I may go longer if he still wants it. I still have a few months to see.
We will not be doing parties every year, though I am going to do the train cake for this year, so seeing as his birthday is a Saturday and the cake is huge I am going to see if some of his day care friends want to go to a local park for a play, feeding the ducks and cake. We may also take him to the zoo, or possibly to the circus in the next couple of weeks as an early birthday treat

I did a one cake for his first birthday. My Mum gave me her old copy of the wo,end weekly birthday cake book that she bought to make my birthday cakes from. The train cake is a little bit famous over here. Ronin has no idea who Chuggington is, I barely let him watch Thomas, or many kids shows for that matter but he has been having about a half hour in the evenings so I can get tea done without him hanging off my leg

We don't watch much TV here either, just a quick 15-30 minutes in the morning, and a quick 15-30 minutes after nap that help me to get my act in gear! Chuggington is actually a pretty good show. There is always a "moral" to each story. We also like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Bob the Builder. They are all toddler shows and have some actual content to them as a bonus.

A friend of a friend lets her 4 year old watch the actual Star Wars movies - way too inappropriate for a 4 year old IMHO.

Hope this link works:

My Ovulation Chart

I have to warn you, it's not very exciting. I stopped temping when we moved, and I only just dug the thermometer out of the box last night to start tracking my BBT again. I have a bad feeling about this cycle, I've been spotting for the past few days, which is typical leading up to AF. I'm hoping that I'll get a clearer picture next cycle with the temps AND OPKs. I mean, it's not totally over yet, the spotting is quite light... But still, not what I was hoping to see.

It works! so you started spotting 3 days after the positive OPK? That seems way to soon for either pregnant or AF.....but I'm not an expert.

Hello all! Lots of birthday parties coming up! You gals should post pics of your party decorations!

I'm "one of those" that is TTC but hanging out here. You can kick me out of your club if you want. I think I am 1dpo today. Not really sure though. I learned that I suck at OPKs. There is so much room for interpretation. Erin (E-Koz) who used to be on this board was super nice to send me her digital opks, so if I'm not preggers this cycle, I will use them. There isn't any interpretation with those right? It's smiley face or no smiley face right?

Well no BIG summer plans for me until labor day weekend, in which we are visiting Chicago. I'm crazy and just picked up some freelance work, so I'm super busy these days working 2 jobs and taking tests. Boring...I know.

I did have guests this weekend, which was fun. And I went to a concert on Friday. This weekend, if I have time, I might be going to a friend's housewarming party. Anyone have a good idea of a housewarming gift? I was thinking of just getting wine and maybe a recipe book or something.

Well, 3 days after the first positive OPK. I've heard of ovulation bleeding, but I would imagine that it's be less than what I'm experiencing. I also LOL'ed after clicking the link to my chart, it makes sense that not everyone would want to link directly to how often they BD, but I think it's pretty relevant in this case. FWIW, we average 2 out of 3 days, which is why I'd be surprised if we missed it.

Elizabeth - I see what you mean, but there's only so much room for interpretation with the cheapie OPKs. The line is either as lighter, as dark, or darker than the control line. If it's lighter, it's negative, but not totally useless. I go from stark white, to light, to insanely dark over the course of a few days. Sometimes the change happens over the course of the day. Did you know that it's better to test with OPKs in the afternoon rather than the morning? I do both because I went a little nuts buying them and have a crap load of them to use. Hope that helps at least a little, I know that it's confusing.

Oh! And for a housewarming gift, I think the recipe book is a great idea. My favorite housewarming gifts so far have been plants for the garden. It helped remind me that I need to look after the yard, and not just focus on the inside of the house. A fresh garden is very inviting, nice to come home to! A potted plant in a nice planter is good too.

The OPKs I used last time were from Babywishes.org. You needed to test at night so right before bed. Maybe its the test time is the difference?
Last night DH was getting frisky so I finally warned him I was off BC. He kinda laughed and we did not use the PNP method. So... and he already texted me this AM he wants to DTD again tonight. so... he is confusing me.
I love the wine and cookbook idea.

A plant is a great idea!

I didn't have the fade in pattern like you did. You are lucky! I've had friends that also experience randomness with opks, like getting 1 positive, then 2-3 days of negatives and then another positive. I've had friends that never get a positive and some friends that get positives for like 5 days in a row. I am taking them at 10am and 5pm during the week. One day I took them to work and peed on them at noon, but that's hard for me to do everyday since I usually have a lot of client meetings between 11am-3pm. Check my thread on the TTC 0-24 months board to see what I mean about my crazy lines. 80% color, then stark white, then positive. You should join over there if you haven't already.

That is so strange about the spotting. I hope it resolves. I would call the doctor if you are worried.

Ladies, who is Chuggington? LOL. I need to catch up on my kid stuff. I was babysitting the other day and was singing kid's songs and I couldn't remember all the words. Time to brush up on all that!

Elizabeth - of course you are welcome to hang out here!!!!! I didn't mean it in a bad way, just thinking you'll get a BFP soon and then move on which makes me sad! That's difficult about the opks. I wonder if you ovulate twice in the cycle? Do twins run in your family? Oh and Chuggington is a British train show. ha ha

Jessica - very confusing about the spotting. I hope it means you are implanting?

Sara - maybe he secretly wants another kiddo? I think you should have that talk with him!!!

No twins in my family or DH's. DH keeps saying he wants twins, so he only has to deal with sleepless nights once. Silly man.

Sara-Yep, you need to have the talk. It's time girl. Jk, I seriously know how hard it is. I have a hard time talking about babies with my DH. It's getting easier for me to talk about it, but even though we are TTC I still wonder how I will even tell him I'm pregnant. I still freak out that he will freak out. Speaking of all that...

I was chatting with a pseudo friend today (she's a friend of a friend and we don't hang out that much) anyways, she and I happen to be cycle buddies and they are TTC also. But she is WAY into TTC. She said they DTD 6x in the matter of 3 days. She asked me today if I lifted my butt in the air for 20 min after DTD. I was like "ugh, I would never let DH see me in that position, because he would think I'm a crazy baby lady." I did tell her that I lifted for the 1.5 minutes that he went to the bathroom. I have to keep all this stuff secret, its silly right? You all know that I am a crazy baby lady, but I still feel like I should keep those obsessive thoughts and techniques a secret from DH. I also didn't tell DH that I started taking HPTs at 6dpo last cycle. At 11dpo, I did tell him and his response was "That's way too early, you are wasting money."

LOL! Men! FH is quite understanding of the whole situation, and knows a fair bit about charting and cycles for a dude, but this is totally something he would say too. But, back to your question, I don't think he knows the extent of the 'crazy-baby-lady' in me. He knows that I don't get up right away anymore after DTD, he leaves me alone for a while. If he leaves me alone long enough, I'll totally lift my butt up, LOL. Typically though, I don't. I try not to do anything that would set panic into him, making him worried that he's about to marry a nutcase.

I'm a POAS-aholic, so testing at 6dpo to me doesn't sound nuts, but I also use cheapies, so I don't feel guilty. Maybe this is a good excuse to stock up on cheapies? I'm not keeping FRERs in the house. I'll go pick up a box when I need them, which, from this point forward will only be after the faintest of positives on a cheapie, or a truly missed period.

Mel - I HOPE that it's implantation bleeding, but I don't think it's likely! I'm on day 4 of this spotting now. It's enough to need a liner, but not enough for anything more. While I think that it seems different this time (texture wise, sorry, TMI), that could very well by my mind playing tricks on me. I think it seems different, but how much have I really paid attention in the past?

Yeah DH knew i was getting to be the crazy baby lady last time. But I think we all do our little secret things. and yes I would do the butt in the air thing if he went to the bathroom or I would have him get me water afterwards for an excuse. hehe!
And yes I agree- I think he is secretly ready but he knew I didnt enjoy being pg so maybe he thinks I am not ready. Talk is coming I promise.

My hubby was the opposite he was all if butt in the air helps do it, and got me pillows to make me comfortable and books etc so i was comfortable and relaxed while I sat with my fat old butt in the air

pico83 (not verified)

Sara - just go with it. you warned him, he knows you're off BC, maybe it's his way of saying he's ready.

Eliann and Jessica - for me a + OPK is usually a test line clearly darker than the control. This cycle it was barely darker, but still easy to tell it was darker. Close to + should just be ignored unless you fade-in (I do) and get progressively darker OPKs for a few days. And I do test with FMU. If I get a + or almost + I test again around 10-11am (the time I've usually heard recommended). HTH.

I did the butt in the air thing with the first one. Never again. Lol If you want to avoid that but get the same effect TMI you can get a menstrual cup (like diva cup or lunette) and put that in after DTD for a bit.

I've been fading in too, I've been testing for 10+ consecutive days, so it's easy to see where the + is. Here's from this cycle:

I considered CD20 my positive, but this pic was taken the following day, I don't have a pic of the "fresh test", LOL. If I'm not pg this cycle, next cycle will be easier to read, as I'm charting again as well.

I looove Divacups. I've been using them for AF for a couple of years now, no looking back.

Jessica, I read your post yesterday and haven't been able to respond. I'm sorry AF showed. Ugh that's so frustrating! Keep your chin up for March. March is a lovely month to have a baby!

My 2ww is just creeping by. 7dpo today, maybe 6dpo depending on my O date. Will it ever end? That psuedo friend who was my cycle buddy...she got her BFP on Sunday. And I found out that one of my guy friend's from college, his wife is pregnant. I read something the other day that when you are TTC, it seems like everyone around you is pregnant. SO true.

How was everyone's weekend?

No invite to the wedding has arrived for me yet, so maybe I am not invited, didn't realise I have become that much of the black sheep of the family. I think hubby is well and truly ready for another, he went to the op shops today and bout a size 000 trigger suit and a nappy bag which is great for on the go with a change mat built in with pockets on the side for all the bits and bobs brand new still with tags on. Thanks ladies. As disappointing as it was to see that BFN, I realize that I'm only 1 month in, and there are people out there who try for years unsuccessfully. I'll save my pity party for the 1 year mark instead, that should give us plenty of time to track my cycles, and weed out any of the small problems.

I can't figure out how to work the memory function on my BBT. I have an alarm that goes off at 6AM every day to temp, and I usually input the temp into FF right away. This morning, I'm not sure what happened, because I got to FF and thought I put the temp in, but when I checked later, I had put in 36, which wasn't right. It was 36.35 or 36.53, and I can't remember. Boooo. I made a note that I might need to discard that temp. What would you do?

discard the temp. You're on CD 6 so not a big deal if you discard, shouldn't make a difference to tell when you O.

I'm in full-on party prep for Ethan's birthday party tomorrow! So excited to have people here, and I can't believe he's turning 3!!!!!
The weather is so nice today, hoping it's the same tomrorow!!!!!

Mel-How did the party go? Did you guys have fun? Did he love it?

Jessica-I thought about starting to temp, I even bought a BB thermometer but then I read there are all these rules. I'm not sure its for me since I have irregular sleep schedules.

Wendy-not sure if you are checking here now. But I'm curious where you are in your cycle? Hope you get a bfp on the first try!

AFM- I think I'm out. Lots and lots of BFN's and I can feel AF coming. Bummer. I keep trying to move over to the TTC board, but no one is posting there and I have tried to board hop, but its seriously hard. All the newbies in this board haven't jumped into the chat thread yet, so I will keep posting here for a bit.

We saw Prometheus in imax 3D this weekend and it was awesome. We celebrated father's day with my dad and DH's dad and had a great time! My DH was super sad this weekend, I think he was expecting baby news from me on father's day and when he asked if I tested and I told him BFN, he said "this is going to be harder than I thought." I really never expected to be the cheerleader for this process. I'm not that bummed, I mean its only the 2nd official cycle.

Yes still checking inhere, just been busy, we added two new additions to our house today, two Guinea pigs for DS, Kenshin and the other is unnamed so far. I'm CD # so still awhile to go, sadly it looks like o is going to be right around a super stressful time at work and i only had a @^ day cycle last month which is a bit shorter than normal, but I am still nursing so am expecting my cycles to be off and it looks like DS is getting some more teeth so he keeps waking and screaming and wanting to nurse all night

The party was wonderful! thanks for asking! Weather was perfect, sunny and nice but not too hot! He loved the Construction theme, and all the kids played together nicely! We had a painting station, playdoh, toys and the sandbox and it kept them all busy and having a blast!

Sorry it's been BFN's. But it's not over until AF actually shows!

Wendy - guinea pigs are great! That was my first pet growing up. He was named Noelly (christmas gift) and I loved him to pieces! Smile I'm curious what my cycles will be like since I'm still BFing too. I should probably temp in September to see when I'm O'ing.

pico83 (not verified)

Just checking in to see how you ladies are doing.
Mel and Wendy - GL with the TTC while BFing. Mel, I think it's a great idea to see what your cycle is like before TTC! I'm on my third time TTC while BFing. Wink
Elizabeth - sorry you feel like AF is coming. Try temping. I've temped while BFing and getting up at all hours and I still get a clear shift. You never know, it might work and if it does it's a nice tool!

I have been tracking cycle length on FF, just not O, mostly because of crazy wake up times and not wanting to waste $ on OPKS. I'm between a 27 and 30 day cycle at the moment. I used to O around day 17 when I was not BFing. Maybe I'll start temping anyway and see what comes. I need to get some vitamins/prenatals soon too! Hard to believe I'm about 3 months away from TTC. Course, that's if DH is still on board when that comes around!!

Hello! Sorry I thought I posted here the other day. I bet I did and I hit the wrong button.

Mel, the party sounds like it was a blast! Yay for only being 3 months away from TTC! I might see in you the TTC boards, but let's hope it doesn't take that long! Either way, I will surely check in on you.

Sara-Any news with you? Are you still checking in here? Hope you start TTC soon too!

And everyone else, I've been seeing you around the TTC boards, so I'm kind of up to speed on you!

AFM-I had a lovely week last week, it was so relaxing and I got a scholarship for my arch exams that I've been waiting months for, and of course, I get into a car accident on Thursday. My tire exploded on the highway, taking my bumper and some other parts with it. I spun out into circles whilst cars going 70mph swerved to avoid me. Luckily, I didn't hit anyone and no one hit me. I had to wait 3 hours for someone to come get me though. And that scholarship money went straight to getting my car fixed. I literally had just cashed that check. What a bummer.

The weekend was so nice though. I caught up with some old friends at a baby shower and went to another friend's wedding and I got some chill time on Sunday and cooked good food!

I probably won't be posting here regularly since there are so many new members and I'm TTC. I will check in from time to time. Thanks for listening to me over past year and a half. You ladies are so lovely.

Hi Elizabeth!!!

That really is Sh*tty on the car! excuse the language but it really must have been scary and having to use the money for something like that just isn't cool!

I sure hope you get your BFP before I start TTC, but if not maybe we'll be on the same board - that would be fun! Smile I have a baby shower to go to in July and a wedding in September that I am looking forward to!
