March Chat Thread
so I'll start the chat thread....
We have a bunch of "newbies" on the board - let's all get to know each other!
I'm Mel, I have two children (see siggy) and we are TOC a third child in October. I work outside the home three days a week and from home two days a week. When we have #3 I'll become a SAHM, no way my salary stretches far enough to afford even part-time daycare for three kids! I love to scrapbook, enjoy baking and spending time with friends when I can convince DH to watch the kids!
So who are you?? ;)
I will play!
Hi, Sara 31(eww) I work for a large bank handling regulatory inquiries- good times. DH is 31 as well and a Chief in the Navy. My mom was nice enough to retire after I had to go back to work from maternity leave from having Tommy. He is my love, and I cant get enough of him! He is very active, sweet, loud, shy and has a lovely temper. We are on the verge of talking I feel. Right now he has about 7-10 words. His eating and sleeping are horrible. And he is on the small side for his age. I am learning every day to be more and more OK with it. DH and I arent big people so its unlikely he is going to be a big kid. I really want DH to get on the at least TOC side. A few friends of mine just annouced they are PG and I am majorly jealous. OK this has turned into a ramble. So HI!
Hi Sara! Rambles are good! :) My DS exploded with talking at 18 months so I'm sure Tommy is right about there! Boys talk later than girls IMHO. I totally understand the horrible sleeping and eating. My DS is not eating well and DD is a terrible sleeper! DD is in the 10% for weight&height. As long as he's gaining and meeting milestones he's fine! When do you think your DH will be on board? If he was, when would you want to TTC? Yeah, I get the jealous thing! I have a bunch of friends with either new babies (under 6 months) or who have just announced a pregnancy. It's rough some days!
I would like to TTC end of this year. I have long cycles so we used OPks last time and got our BFP right away. With my work, I get 6 months paid mat leave so that will be great timing to have winter home with the kiddos and the holidays. But really, getting a BFP anytime would be just fine with me. That way also Tommy will be 3 when we have the next one and hopefully not as clingy. for some reason I am not worried about the talking aspect, just his eating. I can work with the sleeping but he just doesnt like food, never has. He is 3rd for weight and 25th for height. So long and skinny. Has your DS been bad eater always or just recently? At this point I figure when he decides food is good he will eat. But the last 19 months has been trying but I have learned somewhat to let go of the worry.
6 months maternity leave is awesome! DS has only been trouble eating recently. DD barely ate anything until she was 12 months. I'm finding that they go through stages with food. Sometimes it's great and sometimes it is terrible. Are you concerned with general amount of intake, or the pickiness? I'm learning to let go on each individual meal, and concentrate on each week instead. I'm also trying really hard to limit foods that aren't as healthy so that what they do eat is nutritious. Sounds like a no brainer, but realized that I really wasn't doing well at it, so making a new effort to limit things like graham crackers etc. We also do not do juice except on special days (birthdays etc.). I think it helps with the eating because they aren't filing up on liquid. As far as worrying - it means you are a good mom! :) Never met a mom I respected that didn't worry about something with their kids! :)
DS wont even touch juice, either water or milk, thats is. His issue is he doesnt eat enough. WEird, he eats decent at my parents house but at our house its literally like 1-2 bites each meal. He loves milk though. We tried reducing his milk intake to hopefully cause him to eat more food, nope backfired. he lost half a pound in 10 days. So we went back to milk with carnation breakfast mixed or pedisure mixed in. anything for calories. lol!
Where is everyone else??
Just wrote a bunch of stuff and accidentally hit "reply to thread" and it deleted it all. Ok 2nd try...
I'm Elizabeth (31), DH is 30. We have been together for 6 years and just got married in October. We don't have children yet. The ladies who know me from this board know that DH has been hard to convince. But he agreed to TTC this summer. Although I have to admit I may be leaving this board soon because we have DTD twice now unprotected. But both times have been in my non-fertile days. Do you think he knows? Haha.
We both work in architecture and are taking our ARE exams for architect licensing. It consists of 7 hard tests that have to completed in 5 years. So I am hoping to finish a couple more exams before seriously TTC with charting and all that. For now JLIH works for me.
We also have a furbaby, a beagle named Ramona. She doesn't know that is her name though because we call her turkey, monkey, the beast, queenie, Mrs. beagleton, turkus beagus amongst other names.
Looking forward to chatting with you more. Can I still hang out here if I'm JLIH? I'm not even certain we are JLIH. DH is so wishy washy about babies, and we previously used the withdrawal method, so its kind of up to him you know? I'm in a weird spot..because most people are either actively TTC and I just don't fit in that category yet.
Oh and about my earlier post in another thread where I mentioned there was a story about the night we decided to go for it. It's because we found out one of DH's friends might be pregnant. After he heard that rumor, he said "lets do this." And I swear he agreed JLIH mostly out of competition. Is that not ridiculous? But hey, I will take it. Men are so funny.
LMAO! I honestly think that is what convinced my DH to having our son! Our close friends had announced they were pregnant. I don't think it was the competition as much as the "I want to do this at the same time they do" type of thing though! :) Poor DH though it was one month of JLIH and then I convinced him to TTC and we were pregnant the next month. Don't think he bargained for getting pregnant so quickly!

Sara - both of my children eat better at other people's houses or daycare than at home. No idea why!
thats actually reassuring Mel! Just thought my kid was the weirdo! hahha!
And I agree, its not the competition thing for us but it helps. DH is alway very hesitant on things. He waited 4.5 years before getting engaged. This was after he had a 5 year max and all of his BFFs were all married. Same with kids. We were the last ones of our friends to have a baby. By the time we were PG everyone else was done or having their last one. it was like he saw that life doesnt end when you have kids and was good with it. That and we did want to get everything financially in order. So we have our mortgage and thats it. this way we werent bringing baby into a house of debt.
Now this 2nd one(thats not even really there at all) is going to take more convincing. I will admit now that DS is older its nice being able to do more than being stuck in the house or having a babe stuck to your boob all day.
And I say JLIH is more TTC than what I have going on!
