Newbie to the boards

Hi All Smile
So I'm a newbie to this group....DH and I are thinking of actively TTC starting next month. We've been married for almost 5 years, just bought a house (we move in 3 weeks!!), and we're both finally settled into careers. But, just the thought of TTC is terrifying!
Since we plan to start next month, I've started taking prenatal vitamins, and am down to only 1 cup of coffee a day (pure torture!). Is there anything else I should be doing or thinking about?

Anyways, just wanted to say Hi!

Hi Jo,

Welcome to! I hope your TTC journey is quick and easy! I'd say just eating healthy.

welcome! Yeah, TTC is pretty scary, especially after years of trying to avoid pregnancy. Way back with #1 DH and I made the decision to TTC, tried, and got pregnant all in one month. And when I saw that positive test I spent a while shaking and even crying. I was excited, but also really terrified. But, you know what? It works out okay. Thank goodness you get 9 months to get used to the idea. Wink

Welcome to the boards!!

Sounds like you're doing good as far as getting ready. Just stay active and eat healthy. Try to keep the stress down.

My husband and I were SO ready to start trying, but we were pretty shocked when we got pregnant as quickly as we did!! I think we expected it to take like 6 months to get pregnant. Lol Nope. One month. It took one month.

But like pico said, 9 months is a long time to adjust and get used to the idea of baby. Wink It's going to be AMAZING! Congratulations on your decision to start trying! Maybe we'll be on the same birth board, DH and I are going to start trying again in June! Smile

Welcome to the boards!! There are tons of wonderful ladies here!!

Sounds like you are right on track. I would encourage you to also start charting your cycle. That way you'll be able to time things well when it's go time Smile

Welcome! I'm the same as you, no kids yet, but just letting it happen for the moment. I still drink coffee and that bad? I promise to stop when I get pregnant.

I have been wanting a baby for awhile now, but I am also terrified of becoming a mom and all the responsibility and how it will change my career, my social life, my everything. But I've been assured that its definitely worth it! Smile

Thanks everyone!!

This is so exciting, but pretty scary at the same time! DH is totally on board, and he *almost* suggested we start TTC this month, but we've got too much else going on.

Eliann, I feel the same! I want a baby so badly, but I'm scared of being a mom (I've never even changed a diaper in my life!), the responsibility, if I'll screw things up, how finances, social lives, our living situation will change, etc etc etc!

I'm expecting AF at the beginning and end of May, so hopefully in June I'll have some exciting news!!
I had wanted to loose weight first (at least 50 lbs, and I'd still have more to spare), but being cursed with the world's worst metabolism, it's just not happening. So, we're going to try anyways!

Thanks for the great welcome Smile

Haha! Neither my husband nor I had ever changed a diaper before our daughter either. We came to the realization when I was about 5 months pregnant and it was a little terrifying. Lol We kind of looked at each other like, "Wow, I thought *you* knew what you were doing here..."

We're both pros now, though. Wink Even with a very wiggly, impatient toddler.
