oh...and can I just say how much I LOVE my doctor? he's a GP, so he is my OB, Savanna's pediatrician, etc. when I went in today, he said "So, I seem to remember prescribing you prenatal vitamins a month or so ago, any luck?" I called in a prescription, I never talked to him face to face, and he remembers something like this! I told him that no, I just started on the prenatals for the 3 months prior and that I was getting my IUD out next month. He also remembered my DD's name (without looking at the chart). I just love him so much! And he was so excited that we were going to have another one!

Sounds like you got a winner of a doctor. My local doctor sucks, any appointment is usually 2 hours late and a work mates husband was still waiting at 5pm for an 11:30am appointment a couple of weeks back.
My good doctor is in my home town and on indefinate leave for family reasons which sucks. She only saw me once in my pregnancy for unrelated issues, but still ran overtime on my appointment so she could hear the heart beat on her doppler and discuss birth and birth plans with me and was so supportive of my plans to give birth naturally giving me tips to help out, then didn't charge me extra for a long consultation.

Kate-Hope your cycles return to normal soon so you can start TTC in Jan.

Erica-Fun Snowboarding! I've only been skiing once in Andorra and I didn't get any lessons before getting to the top of the blue slope. Learning on the way down was not so fun. I'd like to try it again on a smaller slope

Mel-Poor DS. Hope it heals nicely. Sounds like you have an active little guy.

Wendy-You need a break girl! Find a sitter for DS and schedule yourself a day at the spa.

Lesli-Oh my MRSA's are no fun. I had an absess once on my shin and it was a MRSA. Took forever to go away and they are so scary!

Amy-Any news on DH's job yet?

AFM-This week has been a PITA trying to reschedule the honeymoon. Travelocity tried to tell us that we would not be receiving a refund for our flights to Thailand, that was like 4 years of my savings, so I became livid and persistent and finally got my way! But I'm still dealing with all the rescheduling of the hotels/guesthouses as well as the national flights since we were flying to Cambodia and Phuket.

I've also started studying for my arch exams again. Blek. And DH (ha I can call him my husband now) and I got into a long discussion about kids the other day that warrants it own post. I was thinking about maybe leaving the boards for awhile to take my focus away from babies, but not sure that would really help since 4 people have become pregnant within the last week. But basically he just doesn't think its possible for us to have kids. I do think he was just having an awful week, but still, hurt my feelings. MEN

Elizabeth~ Nope... No word on the job. The company was supposed to make a decision mid-month, so I guess he should hear soon.

I'm so sorry you and your DH aren't seeing eye to eye on having children. I hope his outlook on things gets better soon.

Lesli~ Oh my gosh! That's terrible. I hope you find work soon!

me too of course the first words out of dh's mouth when I told him, was "well then I guess ttc is out of the question"

I do have a couple of things that might work out, so I've got to just think positive...
    1) I can now add more Zumba classes, maybe do some classes in the mornings/afternoons (right now I only offer 2 nights a week, and 1 sat morning class) won't bring in a ton of money, but it would bring in some
    2) my babysitter offered me a job as a 2nd caregiver, we could have 16 kids total if there were 2 caregivers - she is going to call the city today and see what the ordinance says (she thinks they may only be able to do 8, its an in-home daycare) and she would just split the profits 50/50 with me....and dd would be free, so that saves us $400+month right there
    3) my old job asked me a few months ago if I wanted to work on an as needed basis, but I would have to get a business license and work for myself, and work isn't guaranteed...but I can name my own price since I would be the only one in town (I live in a small rural town 100+ miles from any amenities) so if I did do it it would be a big assett

so anyway, this ^ is what I've come up with in the last 24 hours so hopefully that means everything will work out

Lesli sorry about your job, glad you have some options though.

Elizabeth, the only baby sitter I have is my Mum and she lives an hour and a half away and I hate imposing on her too much, even though she doesn't mind babysitting DS. She watches him one Saturday morning every 2 months for me to attend a meeting, now he is mobile he's a bit harder to take with me, when he was little he just came to the meeting and she is baby sitting on December 3rd because I have a school reunion. She also offered to babysit for my work Christmas party the week after.

I haven't been on the boards since the summer, I really needed to just leave it alone for a while since the 'baby fever' was getting on DF's nerves. Since it's been forever since I was on here telling our story, a quick recap:

Back in April, DF found out he had testicular cancer, super scary. The doctors worked quickly, he had surgery at the beginning of May to remove the affected testicle, which led to us talking about TTC earlier than we had originally planned. The fear of chemo affecting his fertility was looming, so we thought it might be best to try right away, although it wasn't the ideal situation. Fortunately, after followup testing, he was deemed cancer-free, and wouldn't need chemo after the surgery. We've decided to wait until the late-spring to start trying. The goal is to be far enough along at our wedding to be able to tell everyone then.

It's creeping up quickly! Just over 9 months until we get married! In the meantime, we have to reno the kitchen and bathroom of our new house before we move into it in April-May, so life will be busy.

I'm excited to spend more time on the boards, especially now that we have a timeframe for when we'll be ready to TTC. Looking forward to getting to know you all!

Elizabeth - so sorry to hear that DH is changing his thinking on children. I totally get this as SO has been back and forth for years and it's heartbreaking when they voice a change of opinion. I really hope your DH comes around and it's just a reflection of the bad week he's been having.

We do live in a great area for skiing. I taught myself by pointing myself down a hill and going but I was younger so less fearful of falling.

Leslie - I really hope everything works out for you. Could you open your own daycare in your house?

Wendy - I really hope you get some time for yourself. Does DH ever do a 'Daddy Day' with Ronin?

Amy - how's the house selling going? Are you waiting until you sell to look for a house?

AFM - SO and I are slowly looking at houses that interest us. We've made a list of what we want in a house but it's hard to find in the town we're living in. Most of the houses were built cheaply by coal miners in the 1940's/50's. I'm just hoping for a house that doesn't require much fixing to be livable when we buy (as it has happened to a few of our friends already - new furnace, insulation, etc.). Does anyone have any tips for first-time buyers?
    ~ Erica
