Oops! A little late today...
How do you feel about birthdays? Big deal or just another day?
I think birthdays are fun to celebrate; although I may change my mind about my own as I get older:)
But if friends or family don't want a big fuss or want to downplay it on their birthdays, then I respect their wishes.
Birthdays are a MUST as a kid. But for me, as I've gotten older, I've been celebrating less. My family usually goes out for dinner, no cake, no presents....just hugs! However, this year I turned 30 and DF took me to a very fancy restaurant and afterwards we bar hoped with friends. Maybe I will start celebrating big each decade!
Not a huge deal for me until this year. I decided I wanted to ring in 30 with a bang and had a ski getaway with SO, friends and my sister. Next year I'll probably be back to my old ways and not care.
For myself it's just another day really... but for Hunter I make it a big deal. And I like to spoil others on their bdays (mom, dad and DH).
I used to be all about the birthdays... even after I passed all the really good ones (16, 18, 21). I think it had to do with being an only child. My birthday was like my own personal holiday. Now that I have kids, I'm more interested in their birthdays than in my own, although I do still appreciate having a day when I pretty much get to do what I want without complaint from anyone else. It's the only way I can get my DH to cooperate for family portraits!
For me, it's pretty much just another day. For DD we make it a big deal!! I just love seeing her all excited!!
