Thread: Question about Mirena

I had mirena inserted after DD was born. I have my heart set on a June 2012 baby, no idea why!! Anyway I just wondered when I should have the mirena removed, To have a June baby I need to conceive in September, but I wasn't sure how long it takes to conceive after the mirena comes out.

I had Mirena in for two years before having it removed last August. My first cycle was a little wacky but my next cycle was normal and on my third cycle I got pg. That pg ended unfortunately but I got another BFP two cycles later and am now almost 26 weeks along.

I would give yourself a few months for your cycles to regulate before you start trying, so I would have it removed relatively soon. A few women I know on site have had a hard time getting pg after Mirena, but every woman is different. Hopefully you will be able to get pg right away. Good luck.

I got it after DS1 was born and had it for 9 or 10 months and then had it taken out and got pregnant before i ever had my first period... DS2 just turned 3 and we have been trying for almost 2 years for another baby but with no luck i recently found out from the doc that i have PCOS and it was caused by my Mirena..... every woman is different on when they will get pregnant after it is taken out but just to be safe i would have it taken out soon in case you have a few problems good luck

I had Mirena, but mine fell out and I'm not sure when it did so I can't really answer your question! My SIL got pregnant the month after it was taken out though.

I remember when that happened to you Katie!! It really freaked me out, I was checking for strings evryday for months!!!

I just got mine removed last week in hopes of a may 2012 baby (get preggo in August). The doc said it can take 3-6 months to get preggo which kinda made me sad. I'm keeping my hopes up since I got preggo pretty easily with both of my kids now. So I would say the sooner the better.

I didn't have mirena, but I had implanon. I agree with the other ladies. Get it taken out pretty soon. My ob said it could take 3-6 months to get regulated to get pg . I would want all the hormones to work out of my system. GL!
