3weeparakeets (Kelly) Progress Thread

I made the garter stitch baby bib.

it's the first project that I've done, and I'm pleased with it.

I did do a bit of purling and switched out the color round about the middle, so I could use the skills my MIL showed me when she was visiting.

my SIL also suggested in order to do the buttonholes that I K2tog - YO- and knit remaining, so I deviated a bit from the pattern I posted.

All in all it was very easy.

Here are a couple pics of my very first completed project!

TFL!

Its cute! Nice work! Good improvisation Smile

Now that you've posted a project...you could change the title of this thread and make your own progress thread! I love seeing what people are working on.

Pretty clever idea that buttonhole band! Simple perhaps, but useful and quick! Smile

My first item was a scarf for my grandfather. It was soft and brown made with alternating five stitch squares of k and P. That was over 50 years ago!

Newbie here, I was thinking about taking a beginner's class at Michael's in the next week or so. Great idea for a first project. Smile

A class would probably be awesome. You should give it a go!!!! Their online tutorials were very helpful in getting me statrted. I'd have certainly gone to one of the classes if the store were closer to me!

Too many good ideas here! I've already got three projects running simultaneously.

A baby bootie Lol

Ok these were supposed to be done on size 4 needles, but I had some bamboo size 6's, that my MIL sent my way, that I was dying to try out. I figured I could do a bit of practice and then next weekend when I can get some 4's I'll be ready to get started on a pair. I added the ribbon, from my ribbon stash, and though the yarn does have some peach, I think I'd like a pink or yellow or purple better, and it needs to be a little shorter, and the edges fray checked.

ETA: I really like the bamboo.

Great job with your projects- I have so many things I haven't actually finished but that are in progress, so great job on completing as you go along. My Mom & Dad really like the cotton knitted dishcloths- I should make some of those for them. Can you make more than one out of a skein?

Good job Kelly. I like the bamboo needles too. I've been getting those in different sizes with my M's 40% off coupon.

Bonita,

I'd guess you could make at least 2 out of the smaller Peaches & Creme skein.

I only have made one so far, and started on the Initial dishcloth and realized it would look better (and would be much easier for me to keep up with my stitches) in a solid yarn instead of the varigated.

The knitted dishcloths are the whole reason I picked up knitting. Lol My SIL got into knitting last year, and at Christmas she gave us a knitted dishcloth to try out. I loved it, and decided I wanted to be able to make my own. Funny thing is, I've not made one at all for myself yet. The one I posted above is going to my mom. I just get so excited to try other things, so after I've completed one project I'm ready to move to something else. Lol

Wow! You are a knitting machine! Lol It seems to suit you well. Nice job on the baby booties! They are sweet. I keep telling myself that I would like to knit me up some dishcloths but I still haven't done it.

If you want to try something different for your next dishcloth, I've been told a seed/moss stitch makes a great dishcloth since its very 'bumpy'..makes it good for scrubbing!

I'll have to try that Kim, I've not done a seed stitch yet, so that would be something new!
