Have you guys seen this advent calendar? Each daily prize is a pattern (some knit, some crochet).

Alright I want the purse but I don't have any knitting skills whatsoever, does anyone know of a crochet pattern even remotely similar? I've been searching for something to make with the random skeins of yarn that I have. Haven't found much that I like so far. Sad

You can cable with crocheting. I haven't tried it, but here's a link to a tutorial to try.

If you can figure this out, I will try to help you convert the knit pattern to a crochet pattern with my limited knowledge of crocheting (see my ravelry projects page for examples Wink ). I think we could give it a try, if you can figure out the cabling thing.

I think I can figure it out, based on a few things (I've started the base in single crochet, one row being approx. twice the size of a knitted row) then after that it's just 220 stitches and cabling. But I can't figure out how to do the around the post stitch! It's driving me crazy, usually I can read a pattern with no problem, this time, I feel like an idiot. I'll keep trying though, it can't be that hard d@mmit! Lol

You can do it! (read it like the guy from "Waterboy") Wink

I think you have a great start and it would be a great learning experience.

I have a few patterns for crochet that are cables. If I ever find them, I'll let you know how I did it. It's been years and years though. One was mittens/scarf/hat set another was an afghan.
