Cute stuff! Tell me about the dryer balls. How do they work?

They replace the need for dryer sheets because they prevent static but they also make drying time faster because they bounce the cloths around. And since they are 100% wool they are not putting toxins into the air like the pvc ones you can buy in stores.

Are they simply wound up wool or is there some other process involved? How long are they effective for removing static?
