Crochet-a-long ideas

This topic kinda died out but was restarted in the "Where did you all Go?" thread.
Here's Kim's idea:

I would be interested in trying the crochet-a-long as well. Here is one possibility...but feel free to say nay..

I was in my LYS the other day and they had the new interweave crochet magazine out, and they had some really nice patterns in there. If we bought the mag...we'd have several on-going options to choose from.

Just a thought, as always I don't want to force people to go out and by things...but magazine's tend to be a goo ddeal. 7 bucks tops and you get as many patterns as most of the books you have to buy for 20 dollars.

Here is a link to the magazine preview:

Mind you crochet will be an investment for me as I only own 2 hooks that I use for picking up dropped stitches Lol

That magazine looks good. I also went to check out garnstudio and they have a TON of crochet patterns for hats, bags, and tops. Most of them are pretty contemporary designs. Some of them are British, though. I'm sure we can figure out the translations as a group, though.

Here's a link to just crochet patterns (9 pages worth):

You can also search by type of garment.

Any other ideas (or specific projects from these two sources).

Ok this is essentially what I posted on the other thread, all compiled into one post...

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

I'm not a crochet-er but I look at crochet patterns I like all the time Lol Because I keep telling myself that some day I will learn.

I always find myself coming back to this one...

Very baby girly so I don't know if it will appeal to everyone, but remember! Gifts Gifts Gifts! Wink

Also, like I said, i dont' know crochet so I am not going by any skill level, i am simply looking at projects that I like!

Edited to add...

actually the whole ensamble is pretty darn cute...

There's even a pattern for a matching overcoat Lol

I know of a couple of other crochet patterns from blue sky, i actually want the headband, but i'ts probably too small of a project for a CAL no? Lol

Headband

THis one is a rug...and I would have a place to put it too Lol

And actually, on the 'purchase' side, they have small handful of crochet patterns that I think are really nice...but I figured if you were going to go the purchase route...someone who knows how to crochet could suggest it Lol

(the crochet patterns are mixed in with the knit patterns)

This something else I actually want to do! Now the picture shows a belt, but I actually want to use them as tiebacks for my curtains in my bedroom! (Our sheetse have bright colored polka dots on them)

The Pattern is for the belt, coasters and pins...any of the 3!

I'd love to do a CAL. Here are a few of the things I like from the drops site posted.
http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d_nr=99&d_id=29&lang=en

http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d_nr=99&d_id=20&lang=en

http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d_nr=99&d_id=3&lang=en

http://www.garnstudio.com/lang/en/visoppskrift.php?d_nr=99&d_id=2&lang=en

I also wouldn't mind doing a poncho or shrug for a child. I'd rather not do a sweater or scarf right now - or anything that is more winter appropriate.

Hotfudge, I liked the first two you linked to, too. I also don't want to do anything warm weather like right now because it's getting to warm to get excited about cold-weather clothes.

Kim, I love the baby hats. Only thing is that they're girly and I don't have many girls that I can knit/crochet for.

Really? I thought the second one was rather unisex...especially if done in certain colors. The first one is definitely girly Lol

The 2nd one is my favorite.

Baby hats just take so little time - I whipped up 2 yesterday in just a couple of hours. Not sure they're sufficient for a CAL.

I tape "Uncommon Threads" on the DIY network and they did this crochet bag last night. It's another small project but so cute (and the pattern is free). http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/cr_needle_arts/article/0,2025,DIY_13768_5210759_03,00.html

I'm down for a CAL as well. I'm a beginner, but I'll do my best.

I also record Uncommon Threads! I love that show.
