    Default easy knit baby blanket

I learned how to knit years ago and have made afgans and scarves, but haven't done anything too complicated before. I'm looking for a baby blanket pattern that is fairly easy but uses 2 colors. I would love something that has blocks possibly or stripes and the border in 1 color. I can't find any pattern like this though. Can anyone direct me to one? Thanks!

Hmmm, i can't think of any pattern in particular like that.

My first baby blanket was just garter stitch blocks, seamed together:

My suggestion would be to join Ravelry and search their patterns databse, you will find a lot of great free patterns there!

I would join Ravelry too. I'm sure you could find something there.

That blanket is adorable Kim. Is seaming difficult? I just signed up for Ravelry and am on the waitlist. There's more than 5000+ people ahead of me!

    Stacy,

Seaming isn't really difficult at all, one's seams usually look cleaner and neater with practice, but its definitely not hard to learn! There are several different methods for seaming and most often, a pattern will suggest a type of seam. I'm sure you can find some good tutorials on seaming on on the internet, either at a place like youtube or knitting-help.com.

Now I personally hate seaming only because I find it boring and it just isn't as enjoyable as the knitting itself to me. I have a major problem with the finishing stage of projects (seaming, weaving in ends, blocking etc.)

That baby blanket in that picture...i started it 6 years ago, made all the squares and then left it, unfinished in a basket forever with only two blocks seamed together. Then i guess the fact that we had our fourth baby, which I knew probably would be our last in July 07 made me determined to finish it so it could be used by one of our kids! LOL

So it took me 6 years to seam it together, not because it was difficult, just because I'd rather be knitting than seaming
