Finally!- What I've been doing- pic heavy

I got the pics taken, and into the computer Smile

So this is the first attempts I made at crocheting. I don't care for the colors it turned out, but oh well. The hat is soooo long haha.

Now, my models are a little temperamental, and wiggly, but.....

Sierra's hat is knit, Cooper's is crocheted.

This is the set I made for myself. The scarf I made a couple years ago, the hat I just finished the other day. Both knit.

Here is the granny throw that I made. I was sewing the ends in when a friend came over. She said she liked the colors, I said good! It's yours Smile

I fudged the previous hat pattern, did it on a smaller hook and stuff, and made these 2 little hats. The pink one went to a friend who just had a girl a week before Xmas, and the yellow one went to my friend who got the afghan. I will make her a pink or blue one when baby comes in March.

And as an added bonus, here are the Xmas stockings that I have made for my family. As you can see, the boys' aren't finished along the tops yet, my mom just ran out of time(she's my seamstress) but halfway there is okay Smile

I always find it amazing how people with several kids manage their time well enough to do projects. Good work !

I was a third child and my Mom did cross stitching, smocking, crochet work and embroidered too. (Imagine if she'd had 5 kiddos!) She also taught Art History full time! Good grief....

Well I am a little ashamed to admit that as far as those stockings go, both girls' ones, and one boy one have been stitched for about 7-8 years. The boy one had my ex's name on it, and since I knew he didn't want it, I kept it, and then I just picked out the name and re-stitched it with Cooper's name :o

Cooper does the same as Sierra did when she was this age, they "help". They both like to pull the needle up when I'm stitching. I have to be more careful with Cooper 'cause he'll pull the thread right out, but he loves to do it Smile

Very nice stuff you made! I love making things like this but I only know how to knit and I find it sooo sooooo slow lol. How did you find learning to crochet? Do you find it fast?

I found it not too hard. I got a little help from my DH's great-aunt in the very beginning, and I was doing okay. I still feel the need to refer back to the stitch diagrams every once in a while, and ask my mom for help too.

The book I got is called Crochet Made Easy, and it's put out by Red Heart yarns.

Now I have started a zig-zag afghan, I can tell already it is going to be a while until I am finished it lol. Maybe I'll post a photo when I'm a bit farther into it Smile I think I might put it down for a bit as I'd like to knit a pair of mittens to go with the blue hat and scarf for me.
