    Default Hello and intro

Hiya gals (and guys?)! I didn't know this board was here. How great!

I'm an intermediate (perhaps on the beginning side of that?) knitter who is determined to be a yarn diva asap. Now that I'm out of grad school and only working 40 hours/week I have a lot more time for knitting. I've been doing some Stitch N ***** patterns lately. I just finished the Big Bad Baby Blanket for my new niece (seen here) and am starting the Headline News cabled newsboy cap for my mom (and mum in law after I finish the first.)

Hmm, what else? I live in Hamilton, Ontario. I have no kids, but would like to get started on that in a year or so. And...uh...I talk too much.

    Nice to meet you all!

Nice to meet you Jolene! Welcome to our board. Admittedly its been VERY slow as of late. I think with the warm weather arrival people are busy..and out of 'knitting mode' if you know what I mean. I have some projects that I plan on returning to ASAP...as soon as my life settles down!

Most peope here have created 'progress threads'...a place to talk about what you are working on and what you have finished....a lot of htem might have been pushed off the first page because we haven't had many updates in a while. Feel free to create one for yourself! We love to see everyones work on a regular basis

Feel free to post tons! A new member might be just what we need in order to get people inspired to post about their projects again...and get working on those UFOs.

IKWYM about being out of the knitting mode. I may get there later this summer. As for right now, I'm in love with the warmer weather! As someone from Florida living in Canada, I can't get enough sunshine these days!

I have Debbie Stoller's Stitch N ***** Nation, the sequel to her first book. It has some great summer knitting ideas, including a cute halter top and a bikini! I'm looking forward to trying both.

    Hi Jolene,

I'm north of you, near Elora. It is 90F today and I have NO DESIRE to knit when it is hot!

    Welcome!

    Hi!

I find that socks make good summer projects. Not has much hot yarn sitting on your lap!

    Welcome.

Hi everyone! Thanks for replying. There's a Floridian here? Great! I was raised in the Keys and went to college in Miami. I guess I've been all over Southern FL and the Carribean. I was raised on a boat.

The cabled newsboy cap I'm making for my mom & mum in law is knitting up so quickly! I think I'll be done in a few days, how odd! I've never seen a project knit up so fast before. But then again, I AM improving. And this is my first time knitting in the round, it seems to go so quickly.

I love the idea of socks! I've never made socks, but I always day dream over the sock yarn in the yarn store. It's so thin and lovely and perfect. I only worry that I'd run out of patience using such lovely thin yarn. Do socks knit up quickly at all? I would so love to make a pair for myself. (DH is picky and only likes really really thin socks. No knitting for him until fall.)

Did I mention that I talk alot? Thanks for replying, girls.
