one new hobby/craft to learn what would it be?
(its been so quiet here, we need something to discuss!)
Oh my! I feel overwhelmed as it is! I'd like about 4 more days to each weekend. Then I think I might catch up!
My Mom did very nice crochet work (I don't do any) and also did lovely embroidery. Even a bit of cross stitch.
But I garden on a large property and really can't make time for more.
I'm still pretty new to knitting, so I'm not really interested in picking up anything new in the near future.
Since this is kind of a wishful thinking thread though, I'd really love someone near me who can knit that would be wiliing to teach me. I have a few of the basics down now, but there's still so much to learn.
I have seen some very pretty crochet patterns though, so maybe one of these days.
I'd like to learn how to do stained glass. I won't because 1) It's very expensive 2) It's dangerous, all that cut glass, no thanks, not with a toddler around 3) How much stained glass does one person need
I would like to learn thread crochet....if I had space & time for yet another hobby! Lol.
Ok, me...i would like to learn sewing/quilting! I don't know how to sew
And I would LOVE to know how to quilt...there is a quilt shop that was on my main street here in town, but they just moved to a mile or so outside the village.
I've seen a few books on modern quilting/sewing and I'm totally hooked...visually at least.
Oh..and I just found out tonight that I'm getting a sewing machine for mother's day!
I kept talking to seamus about how badly i want one, and i guess he saw me checking them out online...and noticed I was talking feverishly about it that he decided to fess up and tell me.
So maybe a new hobby is headed my way....as if I need one, right?
Both my father and I do stained glass, at his house since it's just him and my mom, no kids to get into the glass bins. It's so fun, and if you know how to quilt it is quite the same, only with glass instead of fabric. I urge you to look up someone who knows how to do it and see if there are classes or workshops to try it out!
I am pretty new to knitting so for now I am enjoying learning more about that. BUT I would love to do cross stitch, crochet, and even sew! I want a sewing machine (luck duck Kim). My high school days of Home Ech is coming back! I want to make some pillows, and maybe curtains!
I would have to pick sewing and quilting. I am uber intimidated by sewing machines. I have one and all I know about it is how to take it out of the box....barely
I'd like to do some serious carpentry - cabinets and such. I've done a little, but really, if I had a new hobby, and the space and time, that's what I'd want to do.
Same with DH, so we're getting a start with building some cabinets for a friend's kitchen!
Well right now I have kids, school and taking care of the house keeping me so busy I can barely get to the knitting and crocheting, but really I love all things crafty. I love cooking, I think of that as a hobby I like the idea of scrapbooking but I take so many pictures that I just wouldn't have time. I am kind of experimenting around with a garden now that we have a yard but I just don't really have time The one thing I REALLY want to get into in the next few years is sewing. I wanted a sewing machine for christmas but my MIL convinced me I wouldn't use it and if I needed one I could come and use hers but as time goes on I realize more and more how much I would use it and how inconvenient it would be for me to go to her house everytime I wanted to do a project. When we get into a house I would like to do a lot of the decorating myself, like the curtains and bedding, ect. Plus I've been wanting to try my hand at making a sling while I still have a child small enough to fit in one So I think when we get my financial aid money this summer/fall part of it is going towards my sewing machine.
